ongratulations to Rachel Peni, who was crowned Colton High School’s Homecoming Queen for the 201415 school year on Friday October 25. Meanwhile, the Yellowjackets Football team cruised to a 35-6 victory over Sunkist League rival Bloomington. A victory on Thursday October 30 against neighbor Grand Terrace will guarantee Colton (3-5, 2-1) a spot in the CIF Central Division playoffs.

The fans in the bleachers, most of which comprised of the school’s students, roared loudly when Rachel Peni’s name was announced by Associated Student Body advisor Gloria Ramirez-Haldeman. Peni was almost tears when the decision was made and immediately hugged her father, Sakaria, and favorite teacher, Michael Esquivel. “I’m speechless,” she said after being coronated by last year’s winner. “I’m just so happy that the students voted for me.” Colton’s new Homecoming Queen Rachel Peni. alloween returns to Colton this year with the popular HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL which offers residents a free evening of family-friendly festivities. This year, the event will move to Fleming Park on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. Presented by the City of Colton, Community Services Department, the annual celebration will transform Fleming Park into a Halloween Village, complete with games, crafts, entertainment, costume contests for every age group, a movie on the big screen, and, of course, CANDY.
