nited Commercial Travelers, San Bernardino Council #532 is donating about $220,000 to the San Bernardino Community Scholarship Association on May 7. United Commercial Travelers (UCT) is a non-profit, fraternal benefit society that provides affordable insurance and support to members and provides members a way to give back to their communities. UCT and its members support many organizations, including Special Olympics, the American and Canadian Cancer Societies, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Canada. UCT’s focus is on organizations that help at-risk children, especially those with special needs. The UCT San Bernardino Council #532 supports local groups like the Best Buddies Club and Child Welfare Fund. UCT currently gives scholarships to San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) students through the Scholarship Association. The scholarships benefit students who are interested in pursing career and vocational training after graduation. The donation on May 7 will establish a separate account, overseen by the Scholarship Association, to fund the scholarships in perpetuity. The non-profit San Bernardino Community Scholarship Association was founded in 1957 to coordinate scholarship donations between local donors and SBCUSD high schools. More than 85 individuals and organizations are donor members of the Scholarship Association. The Association awards more than $250,000 in scholarships annually. For more information about the Scholarship Association or to establish a scholarship, visit www.sbcusd.com/sbcsa. For more information about UCT, visit www.uct.org.
