ed Alejandre, elected new San Bernardino County Superintendent in the June general election, will take his oath of office during a ceremony on Jan. 5 at the National Orange Show. Alejandre, who is the deputy superintendent for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, will be sworn into office by Mark Sumpter, the president of the County Board of Education. Beginning with County Schools in 2008 as the assistant superintendent of Business Services, Alejandre brings more than 25 years of experience in public education to his new role as county superintendent. As the 34th county superintendent, Alejandre will be the first-ever Hispanic to serve in the position. Alejandre, who is a native of San Bernardino County, has worked in the Rialto, San Bernardino and YucaipaCalimesa school districts as a teacher, principal and administrator prior to coming to County Schools. He will take the oath of office at noon on Jan. 5 in the Renaissance Room at the National Orange Show (690 S. Arrowhead in San Bernardino).
