s last weekend wrapped up Fire Prevention Week, Rialto firefighters say fire prevention and safety, especially in the home, is a

yearlong effort. To help inform residents of the importance of fire prevention, the Rialto Fire Department held its annual Open House celebration, where parents, children of all ages and community mem-

bers could come, inspect the fire engines, learn about fire safety, first aid and what it takes to be a firefighter. Held Saturday at Station 201,

Parent Summit set for Oct. 18

T

he Rialto Unified School District in partnership with the Curtis T. Winton Parent Institute will host the 6th annual Parent Summit Oct. 18. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carter High School, 2630 North Linden Avenue. To kick off the event, a pep rally will take place along with a Principal’s Parade, and parents will have access to free workshops and community resource booths. Included in the event will be a KidZone area available to children ages 5 to 12. Registration is required. KidZone is available from 8 to 8:50 a.m. A continental breakfast will be provided to participants. Admission to the event is free but registration is required to participate. Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

T

he Woman’s Club of Rialto is hosting its annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser from 4- 7 p.m., Oct. 21 at the Woman’s Club, 219 N. Riverside Ave. Funds from the event will support scholarship funds for high school seniors as well as community projects. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 4-12.
