an Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) has endured tough times in recent months. Campus leaders, both at the administrative and student level, have confronted issues with accreditation, loss of student discount fees, and the potential loss of the campus bookstore to private management. Current student and Colton resident Thomas Robles, 23, who was sworn in as SBVC’s Student Trustee earlier this month expressed his desire to change the current state of the campus and properly serve the student body. “Being able to sit on a board of directors and be involved in the decision making process will be essential,” Robles said. “I have a say and influence on what can affect our campus. I have already hit the ground running.” Robles has been involved in the community since the age of 16. He has worked for the City of Colton Community Services Department as senior recreation leader and lifeguard. In addition, Robles teaches swim classes at several community centers in the city. Last year Robles was elected vice-president of the Associated Student Government, and later became president due to the resignation of the elected president---a position that the business student said served him well. When reflecting back on previous trustees, Robles said he was unaware of the role they played in helping

re you looking for FREE fun activities for the whole family?! The Colton Community Services Department is announcing the lineup for the 2015 Movies in the Park series. The Movies in the Park program is a great chance for Colton residents to come together with family and friends and watch a movie for FREE. All Movies begin at dusk, approximately 8:15pm. All movies are shown in the City of Colton. The evening events will include Wii games on the big screen, jumper, info booth and snack bar opportunities in addition to the main feature film. Come early to pick your favorite spot and enjoy the snack bar and fun activities. Participants are also encouraged to join the movie Passport incentive. Collect a Passport at the first movie and get it stamped for all seven flicks to receive a special prize. Passports are available for children ages 3-17 and can be picked up during the movie at the information booth. The Movies in the Park schedule is as follows:
