9th Annual Battle of the Badges collects muchneeded blood in time of extreme shor tage

T

he Battle of the Badges returned for its 9th year on Monday, Jan. 6 at the Rialto Community Center. The friendly competition between Rialto Police and Fire departments is an effort to raise awareness for the need of blood donation during a time when blood banks are at critically low levels due to the pandemic. 18 units of blood were collected during the event that will benefit local hospitals’ needs first. This year the demand is even more urgent as the blood shortage has been exacerbated by the pandemic.
