“I’m thrilled to be here, during the pandemic I’ve been working with custom homes and was bored out of my mind. So when I saw the opportunity to apply for this position, I was thrilled because I have a strong background in redevelopment, planning, economic development and housing; I feel like this position was made for me,” said Brann. ore than 600 educators and parents of students with disabilities from throughout California are gathering at the Riverside Convention Center March17 and 18 to learn about dispute prevention and resolution from leading experts including the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law and the Center for Appropriate Dispute Resolution in Special Education in Eugene, Oregon. This annual event has returned to the in-person venue for the first time since 2019. Chief Administrative Officer of the East Valley SELPA and Chair of the SELPA Administrators of California Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee Dr. Percussion RUSD. “We were really prepared,” said Melanie Alcocer, Eisenhower High School senior who plays vibraphone in the ensemble. “It was a lot that day. We were scared that performing twice in one day was going to be hectic. But we did it, and we felt proud about it.” Pace Percussion Ensemble came out of the competition with a newfound confidence that they belong among the best. They followed up their victory at WGI with a firstplace performance at the Southern Californa Percussion Alliance (SCPA) competition at Colony High School. Pace Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Charlan Jackson, Eisenhower High School music teacher. “These students deserve a huge congratulations on their achievements,” Jackson said. What makes their performance even more impressive is that they are competing in the Independent A Division, a division that includes college ensembles. “We are going in with a great mindset,” Carter High School senior Jorge Guevara, who plays tenor drums, said during a break at a recent practice. “Everybody is

Patty Metheny shared the theme of this year’s conference - Committing to Action: Building Partnerships to Advance Student Learning. Dr. Metheny indicated special education administrator leaders planned the event saying, “The action we commit to is to prevent and resolve differences and conflicts in special education by making it happen for each child, every day; by resolving to demonstrate empathy and care for one another; by making our partnerships the strongest they can be.” The parent-school partnership is vital for students with disabilities. Dr. Metheny quoted former President Barak Obama saying, "Empathy is a quality of character that can change the world. It is learning to stand in someone ensuring we are continuing to do better. That’s the mindset we want to have now. We want to make sure we go in thinking that we need to improve, we are going to do better, and we are going to come out on top.” Their performance and rise to the top this season have been all about setting and exceeding challenges. And they are not done yet. Pace Percussion Ensemble is hosting a Family Night on April 9 at Eisenhower High School to perform for their fans in Rialto. They will also compete at SCPA Prelims on April 10 at Great Oak High School in Temecula followed by SCPA Championships on April 16 at the Toyota Center in Ontario. “It’s great to see Eisenhower and Carter High School students join together to make history for the RUSD. I am so proud of all that the Pace Percussion Ensemble has accomplished so far, and I know there is more to come,” Eisenhower High School Principal Mr. Frank Camacho commented. “Mr. Jackson and the students have worked so hard and their efforts are showing.” The students in the ensemble play instruments ranging from snares, quads and bass drums to more melodic elements such as marimba, vibraphone, xylophone and keyboards. Following Brann, Fuller stated that the city has been successful in developing its new Information Technology department, “Which will be super helpful for us to finally get into the 21st century, so here’s Nathen Luu, our new IT Network Administrator.” “I came from 15 years of experithe music from Australian artist Plini’s song “Electric Sunrise.” The song is not easy to perform with a combination of odd meters and sudden changes. “I feel like we are doing really good,” Alcocer said. “With all the progress we’ve made to lead up to this point, I think we are doing a really good job. We are picking it up. Mr. Jackson just changed our music a little bit in practice, and we still got it. It’s really comfortable. We are just going for it.” Jackson said he’s received a mix of surprise and skepticism from

Previously, I worked for an airspace organization and a school district supporting staff and teachers. I’m excited to join the City of Rialto to help its IT infrastructure to build an effective and efficient system,” concluded Luu. Finally, Jonathan Ballard, IT Network Engineer, was called to the podium, where he thanked city staff, council, and expressed his excitement to strengthen the city’s information technology systems. other ensemble directors due to the difficulty of the music, but he was willing to take the chance by believing in his students. “The music they are playing is hard,” Jackson commented. “Even for college kids, that is a hard piece to place. We have odd meters in there. We have a measure that’s just seven. And then we have a measure that’s six. I tip my hat to the students for even trying to get into it. Judges are giving us a lot of thumbs up. I have to tell the judges that it’s high school kids that playing.” Jackson said the group was

Local payrolls exceed pre-pandemic levels; 951,000 jobs in Januar y

S

an Bernardino County’s job market has surged past pre-pandemic levels, with payrolls over 950,000 for the third month in a row, according to an analysis of newly released state numbers. The California Employment De-

velopment Department reported Friday (March 11) that despite a typical seasonal uptick in the county’s unemployment rate from December to January, payrolls are now 13,000 above where they were in January 2020 – before the COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted the global economy.

Led by continued growth in the region’s supply chain industry and a resurgence in hospitality-related businesses, employers in San Bernardino County have now recovered all of the 130,000 jobs lost during the first two months of the COVID shutdown – plus

some. Beginning in November, county payrolls have hovered about 950,000, according to a revised formula adopted by the state beginning with the January report. The report also shows that the county’s labor pool has exceeded 1 million for the third month in a row, reaching a record 1,008,800 in January. “These numbers speak to the strength of San Bernardino County as one of the country’s fastest-growing economic and population centers. We’ve got a supportive business culture and a growing, qualified labor pool – all of which encourages the kind of consistent economic growth we’re seeing,” said Curt Hagman, Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors. According to the numbers, the unemployment rate in San Bernardino County rose to 5.7% during January – a fairly typical increase following the holiday surge. Even so, the county’s rate remains below the state average

upset to look out for

arch Madness is back! The tournament returns once again to its multiple city/regions and is ready to make headlines across the country once again. But what really puts the Madness in March is the upsets. Here is every upset (based on seeding) that I believe you should be looking out for in the round of 64. #1 - 9 Memphis Over 8 Boise State There is no doubt Memphis has the talent needed to make a run in the tournament. Penny Hardaway has struggled to find consistency from his team all year long. However, I think they’ve hit a bit of a stride and will take down the 8 seed in this matchup. #2 - Winner of Rutgers/Notre Dame vs Alabama Alabama is notorious for having stretches where they can’t do anything right. That is not what you want from a tournament team. Rutgers & Notre Dame are 2 teams some think should not even be in the first four, but the winner of their matchup will prove everyone wrong. #3 - Winner of Wyoming/Indi-

ana vs 5 Saint Mary’s High seeded mid majors typically don’t fare well in March madness, and I expect SM to carry on that trend. I expect an Indiana team that almost took down Iowa this past week to beat Wyoming & beat SM to advance to the round of 32 #4 - 11 V-Tech vs 6 Texas Virginia Tech went on an impressive run during their conference tournament, and were able to get into the big dance. Red hot teams are the ones you want in March Madness, and I expect VTech to continue to be one of those teams. #5 - 10 San Francisco vs 7 Murray State I can not express my distaste of these two teams playing each other in round 1. They both should’ve been able to make their own Cinderella runs, but I guess one will do. Expect San Francisco to not only win this game but also beat Kentucky in round 2 and make the sweet 16 #6 - 11 Michigan vs 6 Colorado State

Hunter Dickinson will put on a master class and move on a thought to he shaky team in Michigan to round 2, where they could make a Cinderella run. #7 - 10 Loyola Chicago vs 7 Ohio State This is probably the worst LC team compared to the other 2 that won multiple games in the tournament, but they’re still experienced and can pull off this upset. It’s that Sister Jean magic. #8 - 13 South Dakota State vs 4 Providence SDSU shoots the absolute lights out of the gym. They lead the nation in 3 point shooting. If they get hot, it is over for Providence, who I do not believe is that impressive in the first place as a 4 seed. There is some bracketology for you from me. There are a lot of possible Cinderella teams that could emerge and this month is going to be a lot of fun. Also, good luck to my team, the USC Trojans, as they look to make another wild run to the elite 8 and beyond. (5.8%). The January jobs report follows recent studies have shown a dramatic migration of residents from Los Angeles and Orange counties into the Inland Empire. “The growth of our labor pool is great news for employers and the regional economy. Clearly, a big part of what we’re seeing are families and young professionals coming to San Bernardino County to pursue career opportunities and enjoy a quality of life they can’t get elsewhere,” said Phil Cothran, Chairman of the San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board. Cothran encouraged job seekers to check out the services and resources WDD offers. San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chairman Curt Hagman, Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. join Ontario officials at the opening of Topgolf on Friday, March 11. There’s now one more reason why San Bernardino County is Southern California’s premiere recreation and business destination. International entertainment phenomenon Topgolf opened its first Southern California location in Ontario Friday, Mar. 11 in a deal with San Bernardino County that

will create approximately 400 private-sector jobs, $625,000 in annual revenue to County Regional Parks, and an additional recreational opportunity for families and businesses throughout the county and the region. “Topgolf will be an outstanding entertainment asset that will attract people from all over South-

ern California to San Bernardino County,” Board of Supervisors Chairman Curt Hagman said this morning as Topgolf Ontario opened its doors to the public. Hagman, whose Fourth District includes the Topgolf site adjacent to Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park in Ontario, developed the idea to use 13.7 acres of County-

What started as a simple idea to enhance the game of golf has evolved into a best-in-class hospitality entertainment venue centered on a game that is accessible and appealing to all, regardless of skill or ability. The Topgolf technology-driven experience is centered on guests hitting patented, microchipped golf balls into targets on a field. The open-air, three-level venue features 102 climate-controlled outdoor hitting bays, chef-inspired signature menu items, top-shelf drinks, music, and year-round programming for all ages. The venue

is equipped with an outdoor patio, rooftop terrace and private event space. Topgolf has 75 venues in 31 U.S. states and international locations in Dubai, the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. “The Topgolf concept appeals to all ages, and everyone will benefit from the revenue that will be directed toward the betterment of the county’s Regional Parks system,” Hagman said. Over the course of the initial 20year ground lease between the County and Topgolf, the County will receive more than $625,000 in annual revenue, benefiting the San Bernardino County Regional Parks system, https://parks.sbcounty.gov/, which includes nine regional parks throughout the county and several other recreational attractions. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder's office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 800-280-2832 for information regarding the trustee's sale or visit this internet website http://www.qualityloan.com, using the file number assigned to this foreclosure by the Trustee: CA-21-893682-SH. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the internet website. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. NOTICE TO TENANT: You may have a right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an "eligible tenant buyer," you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an "eligible bidder," you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest

bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call 800-280-2832, or visit this internet website http://www.qualityloan.com, using the file number assigned to this foreclosure by the Trustee: CA-21-893682-SH to find the date on which the trustee's sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee's sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee's sale. If you think you may qualify as an "eligible tenant buyer" or "eligible bidder," you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase. The undersigned Trustee disclaims any liability for any incorrectness of the property address or other common designation, if any, shown herein. If no street address or other common designation is shown, directions to the location of the property may be obtained by sending a written request to the beneficiary within 10 days of the date of first publication of this Notice of Sale. If the sale is set aside for any reason, including if the Trustee is unable to convey title, the Purchaser at the sale shall be entitled only to a return of the monies paid to the Trustee. This shall be the Purchaser's sole and exclusive remedy. The purchaser shall have no further recourse against the Trustor, the Trustee, the Beneficiary, the Beneficiary's Agent, or the Beneficiary's Attorney. If you have previously been discharged through bankruptcy, you may have been released of personal liability for this loan in which case this letter is intended to exercise the note holders right's against the real property only.
