Why?
Florence is a surprisingly green metropolis, home to numerous splendid gardens. Here, each and every fine day is an occasion to enjoy the colours, perfumes and tranquillity of the parks and gardens of the Tuscan capital.
Our Aim
Giardini di Firenze was established in an attempt to regroup all of the city’s historical gardens. Our aim is to create a community, where all the gardens will opperate equally and efficiently, to restore the glory of each garden.
The Members
Giardino Bardini • Build in 13th century • 4 hectares of forest, garden and orchard garden between the left bank of the Arno River, Montecuccoli Hill and the mediaeval wall. • After many years of restoration, the garden has again its original look and rich array of foliage as well as a large baroque flight of steps and six fountains with mosaics. In the green theatre you can admire a bed of azaleas or camellias in addition to many other different types of flowers. In the agricultural area, there are fruit trees, a tunnel of wisteria and a collection of hydrangeas.

Giardino di Boboli • Property of the Medici family • Part of Palazzo Pitti • Designed and realized between 1550 and 1558 • Enriched with many Mannerist inventions fountains and statues, the stone Amphitheatre, the unique setting for many celebrated theatrical performances, the cypress alley known as the "Viottolone" and the square and pool of Isolotto. The the Coffeehouse, the Lawn of the Columns and the Lemonary. • A source of inspiration for a number of European palace gardens including that of Versailles.
Giardino dell’ Orticultura • Established in 1859 • Originally an experimental garden comissioned by the Tuscan Society of Horticulture • A wooden pavilion lit by coloured lanterns, was built it gave the garden an Oriental flavour. • Today, the garden has many high-trunk trees, flower-beds, and a children’s playground

Giardino Torrigiani • Established in 16th century • One of the largest gardens with the city walls of the city in Europe, is 7 hectars. • Neogothic style Tower of Baccani, built in 1821 as an astronomic observatory with a library, a collection of astronomic instruments and a terrace from which to observe the sky. According to the esoteric language and symbols which inspired the garden design, the tower represents the last stage of a shamanic journey which commences with the statue of Osiride, Egyptian god of death and resurrection, located at the entrance of the gardens. • An important place in the history of Italian botany.The famous botantist Pier Antonio Micheli worked diligently in the garden founded the Italian Botanical Society in 1716. http://www.giardinotorrigiani.it
Giardino delle Rose • Created in 1865 • Covers about one hectare of terraced land which offers a panoramic view of the city, enclosed by the current avenue Poggi • In 1895 the garden was open to the public during the Festival of Arts and Flowers Society of Fine Arts and the Italian Society of Horticulture began to take place every May. • Built according to the French model. The Garden has been enriched by a space donated by the Japanese Yasuo Kitayama, an oasis Japanese Shorai, given to Florence from the twin city of Kyoto and the Kodai-ji Zen temple.
