Q A
With Atlantic Crossing Director Alexander Eik
Where are you going to keep your Emmy®?Q Since we came home, my dear
Emmy® (as I now call her) has been camping on the kitchen island surrounded by all the congratulatory flower bouquets that started arriving at our door. But I guess I’ll have to find her a more permanent residence soon. Most probably I’ll position her strategically on a shelf in my office, clearly visible in the background to intimidate any potential naysayers in future production screen meetings.
Q Tell us about the importance of winning an Emmy®?
We’ve already started to notice the Emmy® effect, mainly in the way that our company, Cinenord, is now being approached by even more creatives seeking our collaboration. Which is fantastic! More importantly, it seems the award has already started to open doors for us. For quite a while we’ve tried to get a pitch meeting with a certain major streaming platform, and as soon as we got back from NYC they granted us a session. So, in effect, the Emmy® isn’t just a prestigious award – it’s a big, golden key to previously closed doors.
Q What upcoming projects are you or would you like to be working on next?
As Head of Content at Cinenord, I’m involved in developing quite a few projects. But I’m also writing new stuff of my own. Unfortunately, my special-darling-pet-project doesn’t quite conform to the streamers’ call for local content from non-American producers. Apparently the story has too much of an international flavor – which seems to be an impediment around here. So, after winning the Emmy® I guess the time is ripe to start looking for US representation for Cinenord and me.
