Washington Otis is the eldest son and is passionate about everything he does, especially he love the action, engaging in banter costing you the ghost task that was aided by the twins, who were his brothers and were popularly known as Star and Bands Virginia Otis is the other main character, in charge of saving the soul of the ghost, a woman of great beauty and an understanding and conciliatory character. Mrs. Umney is the maid, and as it should, it is helpful and obedient, but lives in fear of the ghost. Lord Canterville, the previous owner of the house at all times show sincerity and appreciation for the Otis. Duke, the love of Virginia and who eventually marries, to move from their rare appearances suggests that is kind. Summary: This book tells the story of a North American family where the father of the family, Mr. Otis, bought Canterville Chase though everyone had warned him that it was the presence of a ghost. The owner himself had made such a confirmation since they do not want to fool with your purchase. After purchasing the house Mr. Otis went to live in it moving to England, and from the first time strange things began to happen inside the house. For example they could never remove a blood stain again each time
you cleaned. Simon, the ghost began to pace the halls to try to frighten the new tenants, but his surprise was great when he realized that no family was afraid at their presence. This caused the Canterville Ghost to begin to get depressed. The depression was increasing every time the ghost trying to scare anyone in the family. Also when he tried always the children of Mr. Otis invented something to end up being hurt and scared him and had to leave, completely terrified. One day the ghost was no solution to your problem, decided to go to the library of the mansion and when he got there and saw the beautiful Virginia decided it should not remain longer in the house after admitting to the sweet daughter of Mr. Otis.Simon was sitting in a chair and told Virginia that he was ascending the Canterville family and was in the house because he had murdered his wife and had been for three hundred years. His decision was that he should die and that he needed the help of a maid who was pure and noble. When the ghost told him his wish is granted Virginia to accompany him on his deathbed and he, in gratitude, gave him some jewels before he died. Once passed the ghost of Canterville Chase flowers grew back and the blood stain was gone. Virginia married soon after and finally the ghost could rest in peace. On her wedding day Virginia was questioned by her husband about what had happened to the ghost but it told him not to ask him about it and never was there with the ghost, where he learned the meaning of death and could only be overcome by the love they felt for one another. Personal opinion: As I started reading the book, I learned of what was happening but once entry into the story, I was excited and reading more, it seemed that I was in history and the daily living of the characters. When I realized how little by little was destroying the morale of the ghost, I felt sad because it seemed that the ghost was a person who knew all the life and looked like he felt bad. So I must say, I love the position that Oscar Wilde hasbeen given this character.
