Teachers at some Presbyterian and Methodist schools in south-east Queensland have reached a new wage agreement. The Queensland Independent Education Union (QIEU) says the deal covers pay and work conditions, and marks the end of a long campaign. It covers teachers at Sunshine Coast Grammar, Somerville House, Brisbane Boys' College and Clayfield College. QIEU spokesman Terry Burke says a 4 per cent wage rise will put them ahead of their non-Government colleagues. "In terms of dollars in the hand they actually will be getting a bit better than others in the non-government sector," he said. "That's to their credit because they were very resilient in their campaign."
