CATHOLIC EXPERIENCED TEACHER 6 (ET6) CHAPTER BRIEFING 7 - (RI / EREA SCHOOLS) Review Panels Agreed Panels to Meet Expeditiously Dear Colleagues Review panels are now being constituted to conduct reviews expeditiously. The Review Panel mechanism is an integral part of the steps set up to award ET6 classification to ensure fair process and correct outcomes. It is apparent that there were a significant number of applications which were not recommended for approval by a number of panels which it is apparent failed to adhere to the agreement provisions and the guidelines in the joint training. Where criteria are properly addressed by an applicant and the panel operates in line with the provisions in the agreement and the agreed panel training then recommendations for approval should be made consistently. Indeed, there are at least two RI schools where every applicant has been recommended for approval noting that not all applications from a particular school would have gone to the same panel. There are problems in other cases and the Review Panels should do their work. Review Panel Structure Agreed Employer representatives have reached agreement with our union on the membership, operation and timing of the review panels. Senior union officials who have received the required joint training will be a part of the Panels. Key Features of Review Panels The Review Panel is a next step in seeking ET6 classification. The panel: Will consist of three trained members agreed by your union and the employing authority Will together consider the application and seek a correct outcome May endorse recognition of ET6 which will substitute for original non-recommendation Will meet expeditiously Requests for Review Where the decision of the initial panel has been to not recommend ET6 status the applicant should protect their interests by immediately informing the employing authority that they are seeking a review of that decision. This will allow the Review panel to review and reconsider the application. Kind regards
