What is ET6?
ET6 status is a classification that acknowledges the experienced teacher who significantly contributes to effective teaching and learning in the school. Does ET6 replace AST2 in Brisbane Catholic schools?
Yes. AST2 is being phased out of BCE schools and replaced by ET6. Any BCE teacher who currently holds AST2 will automatically move to ET6 status when their current AST2 status expires. These teachers do not need to do anything for this transition to occur. 3.
Is there a quota on ET6 numbers?
No. There is no limit on the number of teachers who can be classified as ET6. 4.
When is a teacher eligible to apply for ET6?
A teacher is eligible to apply for ET6 after holding ET5 status for at least three years. A PAR or Senior Administration incumbent may apply for recognition of ET6 status provided they have held the classification Experienced Teacher 4 (Band 3 Step 4) for at least four years. 5.
Are there Transition Arrangements for the introduction of ET6?
Yes. A number of transitional arrangements exist: a.
All teachers who have held Leading Teacher status for a minimum of three consecutive years as at 30 June 2010 are eligible to apply for Experienced Teacher 6 status in the initial round.
b.
All teachers who have held Advanced Skills Teacher 1 status for a minimum of three consecutive years as at 30 June 2010 are eligible to apply for Experienced Teacher 6 status in the initial round.
c.
All teachers who hold Advanced Skills Teacher 2 status as at 30 June 2010 shall transition to Experienced Teacher 6 status.
d.
All teachers who have held Band 3 Step 4 classification for a minimum of four years (i.e. are deemed to have been practising teachers for a minimum of twelve years) as at 30 June 2010 are eligible to apply for Experienced Teacher 6 status in the initial round.
e.
All teachers who have held Band 3 Step 4 classification for a minimum of three years (i.e. are deemed to have been practising teachers for a minimum of eleven years) as at 30 June 2010 are eligible to apply for Experienced Teacher 6 status after a period of one year of classification at Experienced Teacher 5.
f.
All teachers who have held Band 3 Step 4 classification for a minimum of two years (i.e. are deemed to have been practising teachers for a minimum of ten years) as at 30 June 2010 are eligible to apply for Experienced Teacher 6 status after a period of two years of classification at Experienced Teacher 5.
g.
All teachers who have held a Position of Added Responsibility (Middle or Senior Management) and who would otherwise have been classified at a level below Band 3 Step 4 as at 30 June 2010 (i.e. are deemed to have been practising teachers for less than twelve years) will be eligible to apply for Experienced Teacher 6 status upon completion of twelve years teaching experience.
h.
Teachers who hold AST2 status as at 6 August 2010 shall transition to the new designation of Experienced Teacher 6.

Is ET6 tenured?
No. There is no formal ET6 appraisal process. Employees, however, would be expected to continue to work at the ET6 endorsed level. 7.
How do I gain ET6?
An eligible teacher will be required to complete an application package providing short responses to five criteria and have those responses endorsed by two professional referees and their principal. An independent validation panel/s will assess all applications and make recommendations to support or not to support the application. This is an agreed simple process and there should not be any attendant processes or documentation required or expected. 8.
Is there an allowance paid for ET6?
Yes. The ET6 allowance is currently $5,784 pa and is subject to increases in the life of the agreement. The allowance is payable on a pro-rata basis. 9.
Can a PAR or Senior Administration hold ET6?
Yes. A teacher may hold both ET6 and a PAR or Senior Administration position but will only be paid the higher of the two allowances. 10.
When do I need to submit my ET6 Application?
Applications must be submitted by:  First school term day on or after 31 March each year, or  First school term day on or after 30 September each year. 11.
Is ET6 transferable across Queensland Catholic schools?
Yes. ET6 is portable across Queensland Catholic schools. 12.
Is there an appeals process available to ET6 applicants?
Yes. An applicant may seek a review of a negative decision by a second and different panel. The applicant may also notify a dispute in accordance with the grievance procedure identified in the collective agreement. 13.
