Nominations for the Lutheran Boarding Schools Working Party Needed Dear Colleagues I write to alert you to the formation of a Lutheran Boarding Schools Working Party. The terms of the Queensland Lutheran Schools Single Enterprise Agreement 2009 require the Lutheran Education Queensland and the Queensland Independent Education Union to facilitate a working party to consider the following:

review current industry practice and examine its appropriateness for adaptation to Lutheran boarding schools; and
to develop a position paper for consideration by the Single Bargaining Unit (SBU) which makes recommendations in relation to Lutheran Boarding School structures, operations and requirements.
Employees on Working Party It has been agreed that the working party will comprise of:
a current employee of each Lutheran boarding school;
employer representation from each Lutheran boarding school; and
industrial representatives of the employees and employer.
The process leading up to the first meeting will be consultation in the three (3) Lutheran boarding schools to establish commonalities and differences and to identify issues relating to structures, operational matters including rosters, hours of duty etc, and employees in the context of effective boarding schools practice.
Nominations for Employee Representatives on the Working Party Attached to this briefing is an ‘Expression of Interest’ form. Interested employees should nominate for the position however the successful representative should be prepared to undertake training and liaise with colleagues and IEUA-QNT on matters to be raised at the working party. The working party is scheduled to meet formally early in October 2010, however consultation and teleconference meetings will occur prior to the October meeting.
Next Steps Employees in Lutheran Boarding should be prepared to identify issues and support the employee representatives by providing timely responses to request for information or the identification of issues. Kind Regards
