CHAPTER BRIEFING 2

Technical Group begins background work Employee Representatives Identified Dear Colleagues The Lutheran Schools Boarding Supervisors Working Party will convene on Monday, 25 October 2010 at the QIEU Office and by teleconference. 1.

Technical Group

In preparation for the first meeting a technical group has been meeting to identify the parameters of the Working Party consistent with its brief from the Lutheran Schools Single Bargaining Unit. 2.

Issues Identified in Schools

The issues identified in schools and agreed as matters for discussion at the first meeting of the Working Party are:        

Structure – which includes reference to classification, levels, characteristics, etc Positions – supervision, qualifications, typical duties Employment categories – full time, part time, casual (board and lodging) Mixed Functions – rate paid, flexibility Hours of Work – full time, spread of hours, meal breaks, rest pauses Overtime Weekend work Public holidays.

The technical group will consider the implication of relevant Awards/Agreements prior to the convening of the Working Party.

Employee Representatives on the Working Party

The following employees nominated for positions on the Working Party and their names have been forwarded to the employer to arrange for their release to attend the first meeting: Concordia College Peace Lutheran College St Peter’s Lutheran College Representing House Parents 4.

Next Steps

Noting the areas for discussion in section 2 of this Briefing, boarding staff are requested to convene a meeting(s) with your school representative to determine positions around the areas identified in section 2 of this briefing so that your interests are adequately represented at the first meeting of the Working Party.
