Global History I Explore the emergence and development of human civilization. Take a broad, thematic reach that covers the key themes, events and processes that have shaped the course of history on a global scale.

Philosophical Questions and Methods This course offers an overview of key philosophical areas and methodologies, such as metaphysics, epistemology, ethics and the philosophy of mind.

Introduction to Digital Humanities Learn how to incorporate digital tools into humanities research and to effectively communicate results. You’ll also study areas of the humanities in which digital tools have been key to their development such as the management of large databases, the

application of photographic techniques in the analysis of materials, and the presentation of materials and resources on interactive online platforms.

Research & Writing Skills Review the essential research methods in the humanities and social sciences, as well as the core skills needed to write and communicate ideas effectively.

Management Tools and Principles Delve into the fundamental aspects of organizational dynamics by analyzing a real-life company. You’ll learn to define a company, understand its structure and governance, and explore the roles of managers and directors across various levels. Gain insights into the economic context influencing a company’s operations and decision-making.


SPRING SEMESTER

Global History II Study of historical phenomena and events from the 14th to the 20th century to understand the global process that has shaped the modern world. Global, thematic and chronological approach.

Rhetoric and Storytelling Introduction to narrative theory and to the theory and practice of rhetoric in relation to textual construction, and its effects on the reader. A dual theoretical and practical approach that includes the study of fundamental theoretical frameworks and the critical analysis of a series of indispensable texts in the history of literature.

Foundations of Social Theory Explore the foundations of sociological thought, examining key thinkers, core ideas and essential concepts. Shape your understanding of society, institutions, political issues and cultural interactions.

Humanities Through the study of the humanities, you’ll develop critical thinking skills, enabling a deeper analysis and understanding of the world around you. Choose a topic that is relevant to the present day from disciplines such as history, art history, literature, philosophy, intellectual history, theoretical and applied linguistics, communication theory, musicology or film studies.

Introduction to Programming Learn programming languages essential for the development of digital content such as XML, HTML and SQL, as well as a brief introduction to Python.

Logic and Algorithmic Thinking Study formal logic, enabling you to analyze problems and seek solutions in philosophical and professional contexts. Take a special focus on the logic applied to algorithm programming.

History of Artistic Innovation I Acquire a historical understanding of the origins, meaning, purpose and production of art and cultural artifacts from different cultures and regions through to the 14th century.

Ethics and Political Philosophy An introduction to the main topics, theories and methods of moral and political philosophy, through textual analysis, writing and debate.

Culture and Society: Fundamentals of Anthropology This course is an introduction to the core principles of anthropology, exploring the cultural, ethnographic and social dimensions

of human societies. Examine the diversity of norms, values, practices, institutions, representations and cultural activities we use to shape the world around us.

Linguistics Make a detailed examination of the relationships that exist between the elements of any language, whether human or programming.

Technology Examine the disruptive technologies that are having an impact on how we are solving some of the most pressing social challenges and reshaping the way companies are designed, managed and executed.

Creativity Lab Focus on the professional component of culture, what it means to create and what the creative process is like. Consider how culture is produced and the profiles, roles,


missions and competencies of different professions in the sector. SPRING SEMESTER

History of Artistic Innovation II A continuation of History of Artistic Innovation I, this course fosters and deepens critical analysis of trends and ideas in artistic and cultural expression and production, from the 14th century to the contemporary era.

Archaeology Study the basic approaches to archaeology from both a theoretical and practical perspective. You’ll have the opportunity to carry out fieldwork activities, such as excavation and laboratory practices, the analysis of management models on the international scene and the use of digital methodologies. This course will also include visits to museums and archaeological sites.

Digital Imaging Learn the techniques and tools that include the use of images to disseminate humanistic content, from the digitalization of manuscripts to the creation of virtual museum pages.

Literary Texts and Critical Methods An introduction to the principles of comparative literature and its critical methods, which focus on the relationships between different cultural and literary traditions.

Entrepreneurship Gain an understanding of the core foundations of the entrepreneurial process from macro and micro perspectives. Your learning will be based on three essential pillars and skills: creativity, logical reasoning and problem-solving.

Trace the evolution of human thought across cultures and time by exploring major thinkers, intellectual movements and important paradigm shifts. Explore how ideas have changed over time to shape our societies and our understanding of ourselves.

Delve into the possibilities of natural language processing and the interaction between linguistics and computational languages. Analyze the risk of biases in the use of NLP and learn how to program machines so that they can learn and adapt to non-standardized forms of language.

Environmental Humanities

Marketing Fundamentals for the Arts and Culture

Explore the relationship between human beings and the environment. Develop frameworks for reflection and initiatives that will allow us to find solutions to humanity’s great challenge of living sustainably.

Science, Technology and Society An introduction to the main approaches and debates surrounding the relationship between science, technology and society from an interdisciplinary point of view.

Gain the essential marketing and promotional skills needed for creative markets by exploring strategies specific to the cultural sector, including engagement, branding and effective communication.

IE Challenge Immersed in a real-life challenge, gain an insight into the difficulties of setting up and implementing projects in complex contexts using technological tools. Gain an


understanding of the needs of customers to provide them with value and generate a positive impact on their organization and mission. Perfect your use of innovation methodologies such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup.

Cultural Law and Policy

SPRING SEMESTER

Explore the legal framework for the promotion and protection of culture and heritage, both from international and local perspectives. Study the different actors responsible for the protection of culture and the most common issues they face.

History of Ideas II

Statistics and Data Analysis

A continuation of History of Ideas I, this course follows the evolution of human thought through engagement with major thinkers, movements and intellectual trends through to the modern era.

Gain an understanding of data analysis and the use of programs for its management, such as SQL and Python. Study the biases inherent to statistics, as well as the proper management of Big Data.

Ethics of Emerging Technologies Address various emerging technologies and the ethical debates surrounding them. Delve into issues such as privacy, security, justice, well-being, sustainability, democracy and disagreements about how these values should be defined, weighed and applied. Cultivate your moral reasoning skills and develop well-reasoned perspectives on ethical issues.

Digital Cultures Explore the interactions between culture and digital technologies. Addresses topics such as the nature of digitalization, its effects on the way we live, communicate, learn and create, as well as the ethical and social challenges that arise from this new reality.

Cultural and Creative Industries Analyze the cultural and creative industries from the perspective of business, technology and law. Foster the professional skills needed by cultural and creative organizations in the public and private sectors. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit both public and private cultural and creative institutions.

Advanced Research Skills Develop an advanced skill set related to research techniques and written expression, the conception and development of indepth research projects, and the effective communication of results.

Contemporary Trends in Art and Culture

Capstone Project An autonomous project based in the humanities under the direction of a tutor. Implement the competencies acquired throughout the program and demonstrate your ability to put all the learning you’ve acquired into practice.

Assess current trends in contemporary artistic expression and cultural movements to foster a nuanced and advanced understanding of evolving cultural landscapes and creative practices.

*Students may choose to complete elective courses, or participate in an international exchange program, or complete an internship.
