The MSc Luxury is a 15-month graduate program delivered entirely in English. Its objective is to prepare a small group of select students to pursue their careers on an international level, within the worldwide headquarters, regional head offices, or national subsidiaries of French or other global luxury companies. This program draws upon IFM’s signature strength in training young professionals to master the delicate balance between management & design in the creative industries. It gives students: - a strong foundation in management skills as applied specifically to the luxury sector: marketing, strategy and operations for international markets, with a particular emphasis on distribution and retail management

A rich academic year spent in the heart of Paris, with a particular focus upon leadership and professional development in a highly multicultural environment, will give participants a key competitive advantage as they pursue their careers. This program has the active support of companies including Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Hermès, Kenzo, L’Oréal Luxe, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent Paris… who participate in the program during the academic year through workshops, business cases, and conferences. The program includes a six-month internship, providing invaluable hands-on business experience in Paris or abroad.

My academic and professional experience in luxury retail and digital marketing have taught me that succeeding within the luxury industries requires much more than just passion and determination. I am confident that our innovative curriculum and signature IFM approach to management will prepare our graduates to become the luxury leaders of tomorrow.


Courses (600 hours)

The participants of the MSc Luxury program hail from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.

CURRICULUM The 15-month Program begins in September and runs full-time until early June. This period of study is followed by an internship of 6 months. ECTS credits: 75 credits (including 15 credits for the internship). The rigorous 9 months on campus consist of a mix of lectures, workshops, real business cases with partner companies and study tours. It is taught by IFM faculty and a large number of guest lecturers, CEOs and professionals of the sector who share their practical experience and industry insights.

INTERNSHIP Six-month internships, starting as of June, with coaching by the IFM Career Services Department. Students have the opportunity to complete their work placement in Paris or abroad, often within one of the companies supporting this program, including Hermès, Chanel, Christian Dior, Kenzo, L’Oréal Luxe, Louis Vuitton… And also with companies such as Acne Studios,

OTHER KEY COMPONENTS OF THIS PROGRAM: Study tours (50 hours) In France and Italy to explore tradition and savoir-faire in creation and craftsmanship. The small size of the class allows privileged access to the people and places that embody this heritage of artisanal and industrial innovation in the creative industries.

PLACEMENT

Language classes (80 hours) Language classes in conversational and business French, taught at IFM specifically for MSc Luxury students.

Professional opportunities for graduates of this program are primarily related to international business development, helping to meet the needs of luxury brands as they continue reinforcing their presence across global markets.

Workshops and business cases - Including the “Act of Creation” workshop to kick off the year, working together in interdisciplinary teams with IFM’s Design, Management and Entrepreneurship students

Graduates of the program currently hold roles in areas such as product merchandising, operations analysis, retail development and press relations. Other career paths include consulting, wholesale and buying management, digital, CRM and visual merchandising.

- Real business cases require students to apply the knowledge that they have acquired during the program and to present their strategic conclusions directly to the executive teams of the partner companies

On average, 90% of the graduating class secures full time employment within 6 months of completing the program.

CAREER SERVICES For the past 30 years IFM has developed a very strong network of recruiting companies and has been following closely the career paths of its alumni. IFM’s Career Services Department leverages this experience to advise students on job lines and opportunities, offer career guidance and connect them with potential recruiters. During the academic year a dedicated team of three career advisors organizes: - Individual meetings with HR managers as part of the annual Recruitment Forum at IFM - Company presentations of their activities and jobs available for IFM alumni - Individual coaching: creative formalization of each student’s career to date and plans for the future - CV writing and interview preparation, debriefing and individual follow-up Throughout their career, the Career Services Department acts as a bridge between graduates and companies by actively networking with recruiters and job seekers. Graduates benefit from a strong alumni network, a constantly updated database and connections in France and abroad.

Students admitted to the program demonstrate high potential to succeed within the competitive luxury industries and hold prestigious undergraduate degrees in such diverse academic domains as finance, marketing, journalism, arts, architecture, engineering and law.

Of a relatively small size, the average class is composed of 20 different nationalities, with Europe, Asia and the Americas being rather equally represented.

Thanks to the strong IFM network, each student will have the opportunity to exchange with approximately 70 industry professionals throughout the year, thereby helping them to broaden their own professional contacts.

STUDENT PROFILE


Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (four years) in any discipline. Professional experience is not essential but will be taken into account in the evaluation of an application. The program is taught entirely in English, and applicants are not required to speak French. Those who are not native English speakers or have not spent at least three years studying in an English-speaking university are required to take the TOEFL (minimum score 100) or IELTS (minimum score 7). French students are strongly advised to apply to the Fashion, Design & Luxury Management Program. The recruitment process consists of two steps, firstly the submission of a detailed written application (completed with 2 reference forms) and secondly, for selected candidates, an interview (either via Skype or in person), with a jury of IFM faculty and staff, and industry professionals. The application form can be downloaded via IFM’s website. There is a non-refundable 100 euros application fee. The tuition fees are 20,000 euros for the 15-month program (2016/2017 academic year). Thanks to the sponsorship of the corporate members of Cercle IFM, needbased scholarships are available, based upon financial criteria. In 2015, 40% of IFM students received a scholarship, which covered up to 70% of their tuition fees.

NETWORK IFM is a state-recognized institution of higher education and a member of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, the organization that unites France’s top business schools and higher education institutions. IFM is also a founding member of IFFTI (International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes), an organization that gathers over forty of the world’s leading educational institutions specialized in fashion management, design and technology. The MSc in International Luxury Management is registered at level 1 (Master level) with the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles (RNCP). This registration entitles the non EU students who have graduated from the program (internship included) to obtain an Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour (APS - Temporary Stay Authorization) allowing them to work in France for a year.
