How to apply? The best time of the year has come! It is our greatest pleasure to announce the annual elections of IFMSA-Québec’s team to be held at the Spring National Congress, immediately after the Global Health Colloquium, on Saturday, May 2nd 2020 at University of McGill. Considering the actual situation, we are aware it might be canceled, postponed or online. We will contact you to keep you updated. Joining the Executive Board, the Board of Directors, the National team or the Supporting team is a golden opportunity for you to get more involved with IFMSA-Québec and be part of a team that is motivated, energetic and proactive! The application period for all positions will be open from May 11th until May 20th 2020, 23:59. In line with section A.7 of IFMSA-Québec’s bylaws, a candidature is considered valid once all the following documents have been sent to elections@ifmsa.qc.ca, in French and/or English: ● Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 2 pages) ● Motivation letter (maximum of 1 page) ● Plan of action (maximum of 1 page under bullet points) ● Declaration of conflicts of interest Moreover, the candidates applying for an elected position must submit a 2minutes candidature video to introduce themselves to the IFMSA-Québec members. This video will act as the candidate’s speech, and will be shared online in a folder to allow the members to watch the videos before the General Assembly. The candidates for nominated positions (support team and projects team) DO NOT have to submit a candidature video. Listed below are the conditions for the video: ● ● ● ● ●

The video must be filmed in a landscape format The video must not last more than 2:00 minutes The video must be in a MOV or MP4 file The video can be in English, French or both The file of the video must bear the following name: CAND ["position"] ["name of the candidate"] ● The video must be sent along with the candidature documents by email at elections@ifmsa.qc.ca with the following subject: CAND ["position"] ["name of the candidate"]


All candidates must be present on May 2nd, 2020, where the elections will be held at University of McGill. Each candidate will be given 1 minute for a period of questions. The elected or nominated officers must be available for a training held on May 3rd. If you have a conflict of schedule, please communicate to elections@ifmsa.qc.ca. The complete list of positions along with their descriptions is available online in the IFMSA-Québec bylaws: http://ifmsa.qc.ca/fr/apropos/constitution. The mandates for all positions run from September 1st, 2020, until August 31st, 2021. All officers must also be available for the handover period that will start on May 3rd, 2020. The Elections committee for the 2020-2021 team isn’t complete, we are still looking for an election president and secretary.

MEMBER STATUS AND VOTING RIGHTS Current members 6


The current members of IFMSA-Québec are the individual members of the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ). This includes all medical students registered in Medicine (M.D. or M.D., C.M.) in a medical faculty of Québec. All students registered in the medicine preparatory year in a Quebec university are also members of IFMSA-Québec. The current members of IFMSA-Québec hold individual voting rights during the annual General Assemblies in Autumn and Spring, and can run for all the local and national positions in IFMSA-Québec.

Alumni

A member of the Alumni Division is any individual who has received a medical doctorate (M.D. or M.D., C.M.) in a Quebec university. This status allows the individual to participate in IFMSA-Québec activities and act as a valued counsellor to the Executive board and Board of Directors. The Alumni members do not hold voting rights and cannot run for IFMSA-Québec’s national or local teams.

Externals Any external individual can bring his or her expertise to IFMSAQuébec’s team. IFMSA-Québec’s externals must show interest in the values of IFMSA-Québec and provide the organization with an opportunity to reach the public.

Vice-president of External Affairs The Vice-Presidency for External Affairs is, alongside the President, IFMSA-Québec’s spokesperson and representative to external organizations. She must maintain and expand IFMSA-Québec’s partner network, as well as negotiate partnership plans. The Vice-Presidency for External Affairs is the official representative to local, regional and provincial media, and aims to further the organization’s visibility in the province. vpi@ifmsa.qc.ca Vice-president of exchanges The vice-president of exchanges supports the national officers of the exchanges in their tasks. It implies also the instauration of formations for international incomings and also for local outgoings, the implementation of a social program for the summer exchanges and more. *It is a position in a probationary year for which the tasks can be changed if the needs are different that what we anticipate. gestiondeséchanges@ifmsa.qc.ca

National team National Officer for Medical Education

The position of coordinator of the medical education committee (NOME) is expected to create a relation with the permanent medical education international committee (SCOME). One of the important tasks of the NOME is to evaluate the needs in regards of implication opportunities and of capacity building of the members on different subjects linked to medical education, whilst working online with the SCOME goals. Some of these subjects include social responsibility, global health education, free access to research and universal access to healthcare. *It is a position in a probationary year for which the tasks can be changed if the needs are different that what we anticipate.

The committee aims to give the opportunity to medical students across the globe to participate into an exchange program. The committee also strives to offer an educative cultural experience that goes beyond the traditional medical school curriculum, allowing medical students to know the different ways noi@ifmsa.qc.ca fmss.scoi@ifmsa.qc.ca Project Director The Project Director is responsible for overseeing the IFMSA-QuĂŠbec peer education projects across all Faculties of Medicine of Quebec, in collaboration with the coordinators of each project. ensures that each coordinator has all the tools necessary for the adequate operation of the project. Capacity Building National assistant The NACB has to implement local capacity building formations, to help with the organisation of the Sub-Regional Training (SRT), to evaluate the impact of the capacity building formations and to support the VPCB in his task in general. nacb@ifmsa.qc.ca Project Director

Supporting Team and Projects Team Members of the Supporting team assist the Executive Board and the national team in their activities, or are responsible of initiatives in IFMSAQuébec that are not directly related to any of the Standing Committees. The Project Coordinators are responsible of directing on-campus trainings for medical students participating in the peer-education projects, of managing promotional and educational material for their project and of seeking external funding if necessary. The members of the Projects Team work with the Projects Direction. Members of the Supporting team and of the Projects Team will be nominated by the 2019-2020 Executive Board, upon recommendation from the current officers. The nominations will be revealed and adopted at the Spring National Assembly.

Alumni Direction IFMSA-Québec’s Alumni division unites all the alumni of Québec’s medical faculties, particularly IFMSA-Québec’s former members who wish to continue being involved in the organization. The Alumni Direction must organize social events for IFMSA-Québec’s former members, allowing current members to meet their predecessors. They also promote IFMSA-Québec’s events across the Alumni networks, and identify new possibilities of financial support. anciens@ifmsa.qc.ca Sexperts Coordinator 1 position for the Montreal region 2 positions for the Trois-Rivières region The peer education project Sexperts aims to increase sexual health awareness amongst high school students. This project’s main goals are to enable youth to take responsibility for their own sexual health, to stimulate their curiosity, to promote respect of themselves and of others, to debunk some myths around sexuality and to provide tools and simple resources for taking informed and responsible decisions about their sexual activities.

2 positions for the Trois-Rivières region 1 position for the Quebec region Healthy and Proud (Fiers et en Forme) aims to tackle the subject of body image through interactive workshops for adolescents in high school (Secondary 1 to 5). The workshop is divided into three sections. The first defines the concepts of body image and self-esteem and explores the effects from family, social and cultural influences. The second workshop teaches the young adults about normal development in puberty, and factors that influence size and weight. It also deals with sensitive issues such as acne.
