Letter from the President Welcome to the Training New Trainers 2018! This weekend, I truly hope you’ll enjoy our workshops on leadership, team work and project management, which will hopefully enable you to become better professionals in and out of the hospital. As you may know, in Canada, being a leader is one of the 7 roles of a physician according to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. To this purpose, we think that our extensive lineup of workshops on various subjects will address some of the many skills we’ll need as leaders in healthcare. The trainers who will guide you this weekend have followed the exact training as you. By engageing in this training, you will acquire the competencies and knowledge to become trainers yourselves, giving back to your fellow healthcare students in Quebec and beyond. Yes, as IFMSA-certified trainers, you will have the opportunity to travel around the world and share your competencies - at the Sub Regional Trainings in Amsterdam, Mexico, Sudan, Egypt, Australia and, of course, right here in Quebec. The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), representing 1.4 million students around the world, is based on this principle of networking and sharing competencies amongst students who see health as much more than a title. If you’re a Quebec student and you’re interested to know more about IFMSAQuébec, please feel free to approach. You can get involved in various ways, whether on our local committees, on the national team, as a project coordinator or in the logistical organization of international exchanges, or even in the team that will be organizing the IFMSA August Meeting 2018, which will host more than 1000 medical students from around the world, in Montreal, in August 2018. You can come to our National General Assembly, which will be in Montreal on May 5, under the theme of Access to Health, to get to know more about IFMSA-Québec and its diverse team. I promise you, once you start getting involved, you won’t regret it!

Letter from the Vice-President for Capacity Building It is a pleasure to lunch the 2018 TNT, an event made possible thanks to our amazing trainers and organizing committee. It is an event that I personally cherish: it is as a participant last year that I grasped the potential of IFMSA-Québec. Being trained by other students who had extraordinary accomplishments motivated me to become more and more implicated. This workshop will put you on pause from your everyday life. You will be thinking together with like-minded people that are also willing to achieve higher goals and to be more than a simple student. This time-bubble will allow to to think about the projects that really matter to you, to gain the tools to make then become reality, and to enrich them by getting ideas from the other participants. After the training, you will probably be sleeping 5h per night, you will be very energized and efficient, and your mind will be more creative than ever. You will feel alive and inspired. At least that is what happened to me. Now it’s your turn! With warm regards, on behalf of IFMSA-Québec’s national team, local trainers and Organizing Committee.
Gaël Chetaille Vice-President for Capacity Building 4
Letter from the Organizing Committee Dear students,
It is with immense pleasure and enthusiasm that I extend a formal invitation to the 2018 edition of the Training New Trainers (TNT), which will be hosted by the University of Sherbrooke, in Sherbrooke City, from April 27th to 29th. I hope you are as excited as we are about this amazing opportunity for self-growth, learning and exchanging, and making lasting connections with medical students from around the province.
The Organizing Committee has the honor of presenting you an event that is designed to expand your knowledge, to increase your skills, and to create a stimulating environment to learn about worldwide issues and to promote social implication. You will also have the opportunity to share ideas and participate in activities and conferences alongside medical students that share your interests, and will not only discover some of the current social and medical issues, but also how you can take a part in changing the world. Aside from the many trainings and activities, our social program will also give you the chance to explore the picturesque city of Sherbrooke.
With my most sincere salutations and hopes to see you at the TNT,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee,
Romina Hassid Head of the Organizing Committee

What is a Training New Trainers (TNT)? During its 5 previous editions in Quebec, the TNT has allowed medical students to gain the knowledge and skills to realize their dreams into the concrete word. This 3-day workshop will guide you step by step of project management from A to Z: from finding an idea to evaluation, from conflict management to public speaking. Our objective is for you to master enough that information enough to be able to transmit it over to others—to become yourself a trainer.
A TNT is not restricted to students actively involved within IFMSA. For those who are involved within the organization, it will sure give a boost to your local, national or international implication!
Certification An official certificate issued by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA “world”) and allowing you to give trainings throughout the world as a certified trainer will be given upon full attendance to the three days. This international certification is recognized by more than 130 countries worldwide. This means that you could be the next trainer of the events in Germany, Mexico, Egypt or of course Quebec if you wish to! 6
What is IFMSA-Québec? IFMSA-Quebec is the International Affairs Division of the Quebec Federation of Medical Students (FMEQ). As such, it gathers all medical students in Quebec and its mission is to raise awareness and mobilize them around social, cultural and global health issues. Through its outreach projects, its international exchange programs and its policy statements, IFMSA-Québec is dedicated to improving health here and abroad. To do this, the organization is actively involved on the local and national scenes, as well as within the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) internationally. Active on the six campuses of the province, IFMSA-Quebec offers multiple training opportunities, runs more than 140 international exchanges per year, coordinates six peer-education projects in Quebec schools, advocates on health issues that matter to today’s society, and works in collaboration with external partners, always in the objective of forming young doctors for whom the profession is more than a title.
