Lima, the capital of the Republic of Peru, is a city that today is considered a cultural, historical and gastronomic epicenter in the Andean region. Located on the central coast of the country, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, it is a favorite destination for many tourists from all over the world
On January 18, 1535, Francisco Pizarro founded the new city in the name of his majesty, Emperor Carlos V and his mother, Queen Juana, calling it "City of Kings" The city of Lima has more than 10 million 4 thousand 141 inhabitants, which represents 30% of the total population of Peru About the weather, the hottest day of the year is in February, temperatures in Lima generally vary from 20 °C to 27 °C, while in August, the coldest day of the year, they vary from 15 °C to 19 °C AA
The city of Lima, today, has found a balance between tradition and contemporary architecture Walking through its streets, it is possible to come across churches, archaeological sites and mansions combined with modern buildings. In addition, it is the only Latin American capital with access to the sea and the representative dance is the marinera A
Lima offers some great tourist attractions and fun things to see, including national museums, colonial churches, beautiful plazas and diverse neighbourhoods. Also, Limeños love to go out what makes Lima a great place for a fun and entertaining nightlife, especially in neighbourhoods like Barranco or Miraflores.
It is a city you shouldn’t miss!
Peru was the winner of the award for World’s Leading Culinary for eight consecutive years until 2019. You can try ceviche, lomo saltado, anticucho, aji de gallina, pollo a la brasa...you have a lot of options to choose.
Are you gonna miss it?
We recommend you to use either taxis or the big grey buses of El Metropolitano. This is the official bus system in Lima, based on the concept of the metro or underground Buses depart and arrive approximately every 7 or 8 minutes from special platforms and circulate on a special bus lane.
There are many other buses in Lima as well, but it's quite a complicated "system" and not the best; there are micros and combis and you really need to know Lima quite well to be able to get on and off the bus at the desired destination.
For late night travels we strongly recommend only the use of registered taxis.

Chela: As in Mexico and much of Latin America, it means 'beer'. Although you can also go for some chilindrinas or some waters
Papaya:Referring to something easy Papayita if it is very easy. And if it's difficult? Well, there's cassava. You can tell we really like food, right?
Piña: It comes from Quechua: it referred to those condemned by the Inca Empire to work in terrible conditions, and it inherited our Spanish as a synonym for bad luck, what a pineapple! It is also worth piñata or being salty (because it is bad luck that the salt falls on you)
