INSIDE THIS ISSUE In this month's issue of the Scorecard, our cover story (page 12) features an interview with one of the preeminent rules officials not only in Canada but indeed around the world. Inside Golf publisher Jeff Sutherland spoke with Victoria, BC's Dale Jackson who is currently Vice President with Golf Canada. Jackson has followed a path as a top rules official that has seen him work at such venues as St. Andrews, Augusta and in Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics and many more. Meanwhile, British Columbia Golf is proud to be the inaugural recipient of the Diversity & Inclusion award as given out by SportBC during their annual awards ceremony (page 20), which were done virtually this PG 8 | M AY 2021
year. Also, the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum is inviting Canadians and golf enthusiasts to help celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021 by weighing in on the 50 most influential moments in Canadian golf (page 26). On page 18 read about Coquitlam's Michael Caan who shot 59 at Meadow Gardens with his celebration jumping into the pond on the 18th hole going viral on social media. And finally, please take a moment to check out the ask from around the golf industry to help out Master Superintendent Tim Kubash as he looks to recover from a tragic accident that has left him in a wheelchair. A GoFundme page has been created and you can learn more on page 22.

The Right Place, The Right Time When Dale Jackson asked a rules question 20 years ago, it would have been hard to imagine what that would lead to. The member at Royal Colwood Golf Club on Vancouver Island may modestly say that his rise to the upper echelons of Canadian golf may be about being in the ?right place at the right time,?but, other than the original incident that sparked his interest, chance really has had little to do with it. Magic At Meadow Gardens, Coquit lam Pro Shoot s 59 And Goes For A Swim Now that he?s dried himself off and had some time to reflect on the round of his life, Michael Caan still can?t quite believe what happened. His round of 59, which ended with a celebratory dive into the pond surrounding the 18th green at Meadow Gardens Golf Course that went viral on social media, remains a bit of a blur. Especially the closing few holes, when the 27-year-old Coquitlam pro realized he had a chance to do something special. READ COMPLETE STORY HERE PG 18 | M AY 2021
