INSIDE THIS ISSUE In this issue of The Scorecard our cover story looks at the three recipients of this year 's Distinguished Service Award from British Columbia Golf. Read about the tremendous contributions by Berne Neufeld, David Atkinson and the late Scott Vannatter to the game of golf in BC on page 12. We also have Brad Ziemer 's latest edition of the BC Golf Notes on page 14 where he takes a look at the upcoming Championship Season as facilities across BC gear up to host our provincial championshipsfrom Bantam & Novice to Senior & Super-Senior. In keeping with a championship mode, BC's North Pacific Junior Ladies Team is getting prepared to go after an unprecedented 'Five-peat' at the Home Course in Washington State this May PG 8 | M ARCH 2022

27-29 in the 34th edition of the North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Matches. Although the matches were not held the last two years due to Covid-19, BC won the last four consecutive events held from 2016 -19. Meanwhile, on page 20 we're pleased to announce the opening of registration for the BC Provincial Training Camp for competitive Blind Golfers taking place April 30 - May 1st. It's open to all BC Blind Competitive Golfers, men and women, who are members of BC Golf/Golf Canada in good standing along with their personal coaches/guides. In addition we have two more editions of the ModGolf Podcast sure to entertain and inform on pages 26 and 30. Enjoy your golf, everyone, and please stay safe.

Berne Neufeld, Scott Vannatter And David Atkinson To Receive Distinguished Service Awards From British Columbia Golf Berne Neufeld, Scott Vannatter and David Atkinson are receiving Distinguished Service Awards from British Columbia Golf this spring in recognition of the volunteer work they have performed to benefit the game. BC Golf began its DSA program nearly 20 years ago and CEO Kris Jonasson sees it as a way of recognizing those who have made particularly significant contributions to the game. British Columbia Golf Community Saddened By The Passing Of Gary Puder Gary Puder, a longtime Vancouver Golf Club member who won the B.C. Amateur, B.C. Mid-Amateur and B.C. Senior titles in three different decades, died last week following a lengthy illness. Puder, a retired high school principal, was 84. READ COMPLETE STORY HERE PG 18 | M ARCH 2022

Liz Hoffman Elected To Second Term As Golf Canada President; BC's Dale Jackson Continues As VP Golf Canada?s 2022 Annual Meeting culminated March 3rd with the election of Liz Hoffman of Wasaga Beach, Ont. to serve a second term as the 116th President of the National Sport Federation. Hoffman is joined by Vice-President Dale Jackson of Victoria, B.C. in leading the 13-member Board of Directors who will work closely with Golf Canada CEO Laurence Applebaum. Four Regional Qualifiers Set For RBC Canadian Open Including BC's Meadow Gardens GC Golf Canada, in partnership with title sponsor RBC, is pleased to announce the qualifying format for the 2022 RBC Canadian Open, scheduled for June 6-12 at St. George?s Golf & Country Club in Toronto with nearby Islington Golf Club serving as the official practice facility. KidSport BC Launches First Ever Online 50/50 Raffle KidSport BC launched their first ever online 50/50 raffle in hopes of raising much-needed funds to help more kids across the province experience the joy of a season of sport. BC Golf North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Goes For Unprecedented Five-Peat British Columbia's North Pacific Junior Ladies Team will be on a quest not often realized at any level of sports competition when they tee off at the Home Course in Washington State this May 27th - 29th for the 34th edition of the North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Matches. The annual competition has been cancelled the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and Team BC just happens to have won the last four events played, from 2016 - 2019.
