Purpose: The purpose of this position is to participate on the sports field maintenance team for the care and maintenance of sports and play fields and provide leadership and guidance to peers. Accountability This position is accountable for: The proficient use of various pieces of equipment and tools to properly maintain sports fields. Maintaining a productive balance between quality and quantity of work in an efficient and timely manner while adapting to changes in work procedures. Effectively prioritizing work and solving associated problems in a collaborative manner. Communicating effectively and demonstrating teamwork in contributing towards and maintaining positive work relationships. Assisting the Grounds Foreman with effective delegation and allocation of responsibilities to work crews. Contributes to the recognition of other team members; works to build confidence in others and encourages professional growth and development. Applies effective coaching and training skills. Responsibilities Participate in the maintenance, renovation and construction of sport fields, playfields and ornamental lawns. Assist the Grounds Foreman with the supervision, direction and scheduling of work crews to meet workload and safety requirements. Provides strong leadership and guidance for peers. Keep within work unit budgets, when purchasing materials and other supplies to meet critical deadlines.
