Les bisses, balades au fil de l’eau Véritable tradition valaisanne, « les bisses » furent créés au XIVe siècle afin d’irriguer les terres, en déviant les rivières. Les sentiers des bisses sont des balades idéales pour les familles. 9 bisses, dont 6 en eau,représentent 100 km de sentier entre Veysonnaz et Nendaz
Die Suonen, Spaziergänge entlang des Wassers Echte Walliser Tradition. Im 14. Jahrhundert erbaut, um durch Umleiten von Flüssen das Land zu bewässern. Die Wege entlang der Suonen sind ideale Spazierwege für Familien. 9 Suonen, davon 6 mit Wasser, bieten 100 km Spazierwege zwischen Veysonnaz und Nendaz
The bisses, walks along the water’s edge A true tradition from the Valais, they were built in the XIV century in order to water the land, by diverting water from the rivers and chanelling it along the mountain side. The paths which follow the bisses are ideal walks for families. 9 bisses, of which 6 have water flowing within their banks, represent 100 km of paths between Veysonnaz and Nendaz
De « bisses », laat u (ver)leiden door het water De typische irrigatiekanalen « bisses » van Valais waarbij de rivieren worden omgelegd, werden in de XIVde eeuw aangelegd om de velden te irrigeren. De wandelroutes langs de kanalen vormen het ideale parcours voor gezinnen. 8 kanalen, waarbij er nog 6 actief zijn, bieden ongeveer 100 km aan wandelroutes tussen Veysonnaz en Nendaz. 10

Bisses Unique in the Valais, the bisses (ancient irrigation channels) were built in order to water the fields and the crops by diverting water from the rivers, sometimes dug out of the ground, sometimes carved out of the rock and even suspended from the rock face. The bisses contribute to a wonderful network of easily accessible walking trails due to little variation in altitude. Between Veysonnaz and Nendaz, enjoy 9 different bisses. Bisses shuttle bus The bisses shuttle bus transports walkers from Veysonnaz to the departure of the bisse in Haute-Nendaz. From there they can walk back to Veysonnaz along 2 magnificent bisses one of which is the famous bisse de Vex (approx. 16 km, 4 h walking time).

Grand Raid Discovery tour One of the most difficult mountain bike races in the world takes place on the 4 Vallées « le Grand Raid ». It links Verbier to Grimentz passing by Veysonnaz, including +5025 m of variation in altitude and 125 km in length. The track remains marked throughout the year so that mountain bike lovers and athletes alike can train on this legendary course or on a part of it (transfer of luggage can be arranged). Winter activities 7 Freeride itineraries The 4 Vallées ski domain is renowned for its marked and secure freeride runs. These itineraries can, sometimes however, be closed due to snowfall and risk of avalanches. Eteygeon, Plan du Fou, Col des Gentianes, Mont Gelé, Chassoure, Vallon d’Arby, Col des Mines. See itinerary « yellow trace » on the piste map pp. 24-25. Night time ski touring In order to carry out personal training sessions, the Mayens run (Veysonnaz) is open to ski tourers on Tuesday evenings from 17.00-21.30 (head lamp obligatory). The Restaurant du Mont Rouge is open until 21.30. The piste bashers get back to work on this run from 22.00. 5 km, and 800 m of variation in altitude. High mountain Mountaineering, heliski, ski touring, freeride, ice climbing are all possible with a professionally qualified guide. See contacts p. IV.
