WELCOME
As the Chairman of British Water Ski Racing, it is my pleasure together with the entire Racing Committee to once again welcome you to the British National Water Ski Racing 2015 season. The 2015 Ski Racing season starts in early April with the World Water Ski Racing Championships which take place in Wellington New Zealand. This year our G B National series of races will consist of five venues, we begin with Hunstanton on the 3rd May, followed two weeks later by Allhallows club in Kent, from there we make a welcome return on June 7th to sunny Lyme Regis. We then travel to Weston Super Mare for the penultimate race on the 6th September, then for the last race we return on Saturday the 19th of September to Cardiff for the ever popular event in the Bay.
I am pleased that we can again look forward to a programme of Europe Cup races this year. Race 1 Austria is the host nation at Ybbes on the 24th of May, with the Viersel Diamond Race as Round 2 and Geel Round 3 both in Belgium. France hosts the final Round of races at Eguzon du Chantomme on the weekend of 1st & 2nd of August. The venue for the 2015 Racing Ball will be the Thistle Parc Hotel Cardiff on November 21st, where we shall be celebrating not only another successful year in British National Ski Racing but hopefully some major achievements in European and World Water Ski Racing.. In conclusion I would like to wish everyone a very enjoyable, successful and safe year of Water Ski Racing in 2015.

BRITISH WATER SKI & WAKEBOARD A sport which has it all – a great family sport that comes in a variety of flavours. Water skiing is both a recreational activity and a competitive sport. The majority of British Water Ski & Wakeboard’s members ski or ride for fun and to keep fit. They may participate by skiing on two skis, one ski, riding a wakeboard or a kneeboard, barefoot, or other means of keeping afloat! The majority ski at clubs or cable centres and ski schools affiliated to British Water Ski & Wakeboard, but there are also many who ski on the sea or estuaries or rivers with no formal club structure. Our policy is to promote water skiing as much as possible through clubs who can then control the activity and make sure it is carried out safely and with respect for other water users. BAREFOOT Use the boom, ski shoes and a good coach/driver and you’ll be ‘footing’ at around 25mph in no time. Starting on your back, sitting up and gently placing your soles on the water are the ingredients, which make up the art of learning to barefoot. BOAT WAKEBOARD In competition Wakeboarding, you get the chance to show off, not only to your friends, but also to the officials and admiring onlookers. Riders perform a subjectively judged freeriding routine. Contestants may perform any manoeuvres they choose in any order they wish. The boat will travel in a straight path on the lake in each direction. CABLE WAKEBOARD - THE NEW LIFESTYLE SPORT FOR THE 2020 OLYMPICS Wakeboarding emerged from waterskiing and surfing in California and changed the World of classic Waterskiing as fast as Snowboarding did with snow skiing back in the 90’s. DISABLED SKIING Are you or is someone you know, visually impaired, in a wheelchair, an amputee or perhaps a person with a learning disability? Do you like the idea of water sports but feel that your disability is preventing you from participating? KNEEBOARD A fun recreational activity for the whole family to enjoy. There is however a more competitive edge to the sport where participants progress to a very high skill level and compete global stage in tricks and slalom events. WATER SKI RACING At speeds of up to 200km per hour these high performance boats and high performance skiers stretch skiing to the extreme. TOURNAMENT - CLASSIC WATER SKIING; SLALOM, TRICKS AND JUMP Tournament water ski is the original form of water skiing, from which all other forms have been derived.
