RESIDENTS HIGH STREET SURVEY QUESTIONS At its meeting in June, the Town Council supported a proposal by B&NES to instigate a temporary closure of the High Street from Monday 13th July, to provide more space for social distancing.in order to protect public health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the road has been closed to vehicles every day between 9am and 5pm, except for Dial-a-Ride access although cyclists have been able to use the road in both directions at all times. The High Street bus stop has been temporarily relocated to Ashton Way. The road closure will remain in place for as long as social distancing is necessary although refinements to the arrangements are being considered by B&NES as Keynsham News goes to press. The Town Council are conducting a survey of local businesses (including those in Bath Hill/Temple Street/Rock Road) to gauge their feelings on how the closure has impacted their businesses for better or worse.
However, the Town Council would also like to hear from residents as to whether the closure is encouraging them to visit the High Street or having the opposite effect. We also want to know how you feel the High Street should evolve going forwards. The inner page of this edition of Keynsham New contains a pull-out survey. Residents are asked to fill this in and return it to the collection points by 14th December as follows: • Town Council Offices 15-17 Temple Street Keynsham BS31 1HF • Community at 67 Queens Rd Keynsham • Keynsham Library • Chocolate Quarter Reception, Somerdale
We would love to hear from more than one person per household. So please encourage them to download extra copies from the website. For those wishing a more accessible format or to have extra hard copies sent out please contact the Town Council on 07904 161097
