IN BLOOM JUDGING 2024

In July, Radstock in Bloom eagerly participated in the South West in bloom competition, showcasing its vibrant horticultural displays and community spirit. This annual event, part of the larger Britain in Bloom initiative, saw residents, businesses, and schools collaborating to enhance the town’s aesthetic appeal through creative floral arrangements and sustainable gardening practices.

Key highlights included the Haydon Community Garden, a flourishing space where volunteers grow a variety of plants, fostering community engagement and education. Additionally, Writhlington Allotments played a significant role, with local gardeners cultivating plots that demonstrate excellent horticultural skills and sustainable techniques. The Writhlington Orchid project, renowned for its unique and exotic orchid collections, further elevated Radstock’s horticultural prestige. Another noteworthy site was Haydon Batch, an area of natural beauty and ecological significance, contributing to the town’s green landscape and biodiversity.

Judging criteria encompass the quality of green spaces, the use of environmentally friendly methods, and the involvement of the community. Radstock, with its rich heritage and enthusiastic volunteers, hoped to impress the judges with its commitment to beautifying the town and fostering a sense of local pride.

The competition not only highlights Radstock’s dedication to horticulture but also strengthens community bonds and promotes a cleaner Town for its residents, traders and visitors. We look forward to sharing the results with you all in the next edition but would like to thank everyone that has supported us.
