VINITALY: THE KEY ROLE OF EXPORT AND THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 57TH EDITION
Global wine showcase, a reference for large companies, an opportunity for emerging realities, and NoLo wine innovations
In recent years, wineries have increasingly focused on foreign markets: many generate between 80% and 90% of their turnover outside of Italy, and now a third of the participants at Vinitaly come from abroad. These are mainly professionals interested in purchasing Italian wines. “Our distinguishing feature,” explains Adolfo Rebughini, general manager of Veronafiere, “is that we represent 95% Italian producers. However, we must not forget the importance of the domestic market. For many companies, it is the only significant commercial event for approaching the national market. Our commitment is to support medium-small businesses in their growth, as demonstrated by initiatives such as Micromega Wines and Vinitaly Bio. In this context, Vinitaly plays the role of an incubator for companies looking to expand in the market”. The focus on the foreign market remains strong. “We are primarily followed by major producers already present in international markets, but also by medium-sized companies that seek their first approach to international markets. We provide support for logistics and shipments.

Thanks to our collaboration with ICE, we are also able to connect companies with buyers directly in the market”. Quantifying the turnover generated by participating companies is complex, “as this is confidential information. However, we observe that their presence in international markets leads to tangible growth, and feedback indicates a positive economic return. Furthermore, many companies take advantage of OCM funds to access foreign markets”.
The previews of the event in the various countries where Vinitaly operates also serve to directly promote the fair to international buyers. “We have trade shows structured over time and previews dedicated to the most important markets”. Vinitaly 2025 expands its content with No-Low alcohol (NoLo) wines, officially included in the offering for the 57th edition of the International Wine and Spirits Exhibition, scheduled at Veronafiere from April 6 to 9. The pilot project began in Jeddah, where the trade fair’s top executives announced the initiative during the masterclass “Italian Grapes Reimagined: an Alcohol-Free Tasting Experience,” an event dedicated to dealcoholized wines and zero-alcohol cocktails. “This prologue event is part of the development plan for the exhibition and aims to complete the assets of the only trade fair brand promoting Made-in-Italy wine”.
