Quality of light is essential to ensure the enjoyment of all green areas in public and private parks and gardens. Designing the light in these areas can not only enhance their natural beauty but also create a new dimension to the same environment, giving it new life at night. This guide is a tool that reveals the potential of quality lighting design in parks and gardens offered by state-ofthe-art technical lighting equipment and systems. The guide addresses themes of shape and design in terms of their impact on the landscape and illustrates the infinite lighting control options offered by devices able to meet any design needs and requirements, ranging from light effects to dynamic and coloured light.

Today we are the premiere Italian manufacturer in the “Lighting” market, and we rank among the top European manufacturers.
The guide looks at energy saving from the points of view of cost saving and of safeguarding environmental balance in general. Light quality is also enhanced by awareness of security matters affecting both the systems themselves and the areas they light, by literally shedding new light on dark green areas and eradicating hidden dangers. This technical lighting plan will therefore help restore the usability of areas that would otherwise be no-go areas at night. The general topic also emphasises our full awareness of the battle that has long been fought against light pollution and in favour of lighting that ensures visual comfort.
We aren’t satisfied by simply making good lamps. We want be the creators of good lighting: light that shines in a room, a house, a building, a museum, a cathedral, a company, a plaza, an airport, and, yes . . . even an entire city. Good lighting has to be created with the awareness that it has to integrate with its environment, taking care not to invade it, darken it, or violate it. Light must be respected, and light has to, in turn, respect the nature of people and things. The iGuzzini mission is therefore to study light, to know light and to make it known; improving the integration with architecture through industrial design. Because of this, a large part of what we do is to offer consultation on lighting techniques, both in the design phase and as an after-sales service.
A series of projects exemplify possible solutions already undertaken in private residential gardens and recreational green areas in relation to green urban areas, providing direct evidence of some very successful projects.
