President Mattihas Muller FIHI 2017-2019 Dear Colleague, As I prepare to step down as your President, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been an incredible two years at the Institute during a time of significant change and growth. Supported by the IHI Board and Executive, the two key focuses of my Presidency were to stabilise the IHI finances and to grow and develop membership and services, recognising the importance to develop regionally. A strategic review of our membership demographics and services was undertaken and Munster was identified as the first province for development. Launched in September 2017 and directed by Chair Brian Bowler FIHI, Montenotte Hotel, Cork. the Munster District Committee was established. I am delighted to note membership and services for the region is growing steadily and this was clearly evident with the level of applications and attendance from the region for the 2018 IHI Hospitality Management Awards. The success of the IHI is very much down to Member participation and the desire to promote professional development for our Industry. It is important as Managers, that we promote professional development within our Teams and I would encourage you to promote the IHI to your young managers, they are after all the future of our industry. Networking it an important aspect of our role and for our Young Managers, the IHI provides the ideal platform as they develop this skill. The Institute exists for our Members. Without you, there would be no Institute. However, equally the Institute would not be able to provide the services we provide to you, were it not for the support of our Patrons, Trade Members and Sponsors. Therefore, I would like to thank all of them most sincerely for the invaluable contribution to our Institute and Industry. As part of the IHI Green Initiative to reduce our carbon footprint, I am delighted to launch this first digital copy of the IHI Annual Report. On a closing note, I would like to thank the IHI Board, Tina Maree National Executive Officer and Cynthia O'Neill, Membership & Events Executive for their support and commitment throughout my presidency. To my wife Kate, a very special thank you for sharing this fantastic journey with me. Yours sincerely,
Matthias Muller FIHI President of the Irish Hospitality Institute Uachtarán Institiúid Aíochta na hÉireann

Cathal Brugha Street), Paul continued his training with Trust House Forte (Shelbourne Hotel), Cunard Lines, Sales and Catering at Shannon Airport and with the Steigenberger Group in Germany. Carroll Catering). This has since evolved into the Compass Ireland Group. In 1995 Paul set up Paul Boksberger Advisory Services specialising in Hygiene and Safety Training, Hazard Analysis, Management Reorganisation, Foodservice Design, Operational Audit, Contract Review, Purchasing, and Quality Management Training. He is a partner in “InToTo” Foodservice Design Ltd, which is recognised as one of the leading independent kitchen and foodservice design specialists both in Ireland and the UK..
