RESIDENTS of Gwagwa community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have appealed to the FCf Administration to provide them with potable wateL Some of the residents who spoke with City News, said their major source of water is the Gwagwa River, which they said is unhygienic. Our reporter, who visited the river, observed that the river has a·shallow body of water, and on its bank lies a long stretch of refuse dump while its surrounding is saturated with astench thatcomes from decaying wastes. A resident said the people of the area rely on water from the river to wash their clothes and take baths. "There is no fonn of privacy at the river as both male and female, young and old, clean up in the open.
