Business Ekiti government presents N2m to NDE graduates

THE Ekiti State Government has disbursed N2 million to 50 graduates of community-based skills acquisition programme of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) with a promise to employ over 20,000 people into the various sectors of the state economy between now and 2014. Each of the 50 beneficiaries received N40,OOO as loans which are expected to be paid back within three years with the governor charging them to make judicious use of the money. Governor Kayode Fayemi, who presented cheques covering the amount to the graduates, said the government had started registering unemployed graduates and schoolleavers since December across the state. The exercise was intended to give government a database that would smoothen the recruitment exercise.

Lugbe residents want more banks By Mustapha Suleiman RESIDENTS ofLugbe, a suburb of the FCT have called for more banks in the area. A resident Gbenga Akinsola said the area with thousands of residents have only one bank and one functional Automated Teller Machine (ATM). He said that residents of the area stay for hours on queue before they can assess the only ATM serving the whole community. "As you can see we are so many on this queue now and more people are still coming. It is very bad that Lugbe, one of the most populated satellite towns in the PCT, can only

Another resident, Mrs. Ngozi Mba lamented that she has been disappointed on several occasions when the ATM failed to dispense money due to insufficient cash in it. "They used to be three ATMs, one inside the bank and the other two just outside it. But we learnt that they have been authorized not to allow customers make use ofany ATM outside the bank premises," she said. She appealed to those concerned to bring more banks to the area so as to give Lugbe residents easy access to banking operations.
