Man, 65, remanded over attempt to set in-laws house ablaze From Ahmed Mo hammed, Bauchi A court in Bauchi has remanded 65 year old Mallam Kadiri Mohanlmed over alleged attempt to set the house of his in-laws on fire because the later refused to allow his wife to return to him. Daily Trust gathered that Mohammed, who hails from Jigawa Gadau village in Zakl Local
Government Area of the state, had a disagreement with his wife, who then left his house for that of her guardian. It was further gathered that Mohammed went and discussed with her family and guardians to ask his wife to return, but they refused , asking him to pay some money and buy a wrapper for his wife before she can be aUowed to return.
The man according to a sou rce then got angry and decided to set the house of his in-laws ablaze. Reading th e FIR before the Chief Magistrate's Court in . Baucru, the prosecutor, Sergeant Adamu Waziri told the court that the case was transferred from Zaki Local Government Area to the state cm and that the suspect was charged with culpable homi-
cide and mischief contrary to sections 95 and 337 of the Penal Code. The prosecutor said the man armed himself aild went to the residence of his in-law, Adamu Babaji in the night and set the house ablaze while they were all asleep. He added that N8,000, bed and mattresses worth 26,000 and other valuables valued at 140,000
were burnt down . The prosecutor said the man admitted to the crime. . After th e FIR was read, the magistrate asked the accused whether he unde rstood the charges and he responded that he understood, after which the magistrate ordered the remand of the accused and adjo~rned the matter to June 25, 2011.

He said commercial agri culture is a project financed by the World Bank and the Federal Government, and that the project is aimed at commercial izing agriculture. He added that to ensure the comme rcialization , certain infrastructure need to be put in place so that the problem of transportation and energy among others could be solved.
