Niger State spent NlOOm on the construction of the Beji modem market to boost its internally generated revenue, Alhaji Bawa Beji, the local government chairman, disclosed this while conducting newsmen round the market at Beji. "The council expended NlOO million to establish Beji modern market; we focused on the project because it will serve as our major source of revenue," he said. He said that the money was expended on clearing the site, fencing and construction of lockup stores, open shops and the administrative block. The chairman explained that the market project was financed with the NI00 million special project grant allocated to each of the 25 local government councils by the state government.
