Obadokun cautions rumour mongers
T
HE Chairman, I n t e rim Management Committee of Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State, Comrade Titi Obadokun, has called on the people of the state to desist from rumour mongering. Comrade Obadokun gave the warning while reacting to rumours of food poisoning of primary school pupils which made the round last week. The chairman said it was unfair and uncharitable for political opponents to resort to backbiting, insinuations and propaganda to settle political differences. Obadokun who noted that God gave political offices to those that pleased Him urged the people to shun sentiments and faced the reality on ground. "Alao-Akala has done a lot for us in this state. He has warmed
himself into the mind of the people through the execution of developmental projects. "There is nothing anybody can do to discredit him or the present administration in the state as the people knew better," he added. Obadokun enjoined the people of the state to rally round the AlaoAkala administration by ensuring that they voted massiv<!ly for him in April. He added that the governor used his first term to serve the people selfishly and tirelessly by embarking on projects that touched the lives of the peole in the nooks and cranies of the state.

tributions to the prevention of cervical cancer among women, the Fountain of Hope(FOH12NG) has organized a three-day free cervical cancer screening and training for women in Eti-Osa Local government and its environs. The exercise which took place at Igbq-Efon Primary healthcare centre off Lekki Expressway enabled hundreds of poor women to know their cervical cancer status through screening while those found positive for the disease received immediate treatment. Speaking on the exercise, Dr Tope Balogun who is the Medical Officer of Eti-Osa Local Government said cervical cancer was a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among women saying that em-Iy detection remained the best way to control the disease. "Like all other forms of cancers, the good thing about it is that it is easily preventable through regular screening and if detected early, it can be
stopped from progressing into a full blown cancer which could be deadly", she added According to her, cervical cancer mostly affect women within the reproductive age group(15-49) saying that 'the major problem with the disease is that it is not easily identified as it could be symptomless. "It may come in form of vaginal discharges that either not properly managed or mismanaged and at the end of the day, it could predispose them to have what we call precancerous lesions which also if not properly treated as well, will lead them to
have cervical cancer" she added In her remarks at the occasion, the President of the Fountain of Hope(FOH12NG), Mrs. Rita Oguiltoyinbo said the SOciety decided to sponsor the exercise in order to save women from dying from preventable deaths owing to cancer, adding that the gesture was part of the charitable works which the society was noted for worldwide. Oba-bi assures gov of victory

HE Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Oyo West Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alhaji Fatai Okunlola Oba-bi, has said that the people of the area will vote for the state governor in the April general elections. He gave the assurance at a reception organised for him and his counterpart in Atiba Local Government, Comrade Titi Obadokun, by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State council. Alhaji Oba-bi said that the good works done in various parts of the state by Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala were enough to speak for him. The council boss
