He stated that "a conscientious implementation of die second mandate will impact positively on the life of every citizen ana residents of tlie country." Abduiraheem said that the commission was suitably positioned to ensure the effective utilisation of public investments for sustainable development. "In this regard, it is imperative for the commission to interact closely with ministries, depart-
ments and agencies of the Federal Government (MDAs) as well as with the various states and local governments," he said "We have recognised the need to work closely with sister institutions and agencies, he added. He said such institutions included die National Planning Commission, the National Bureau of Statistics and the Federal Ministry of Finance, as well as the Office of the Special Assistant to the president on Millennium Development Goals. Abduiraheem said that "'tile pivotal position of the National Assembly on this matter cannot be over-emphasised."
The chairman said also that in ordertoachievetheobj ectives of the second mandate, there was need for a nationwide infrastructural audit and die compilation of an infrastructure database. Abdulraheem stressed die need for a robust advocacy to publicise the second mandate to get relevant stakeholders to tie acquainted widi it The equitable spread of socioeconomic amenities and infrastructure across the length and breaddi of this country will go a long way in alleviating poverty, which is the primary objective of President's transformation agenda."

From Joke Akanmu, Abuja pLATEAU State Government i at the weekend, disclosed that it has released NSO million as a counterpart fund for die ongoing Fadama III project in the state. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resource, Nanven Barko, who disclosed tills to The Guardian, during a tour of Fadama III project in the state, commended trie feat the project has being achieving in the state. Barko said "because of our believe in the Fadama III project, the state government has released its counterpart funding, of N80 million, to enable farmers get the dividends of the project". Stressing the need for the
active involvement of youth in agriculture, he said "Generally, in my programme I have been agitating for youth involvement in agriculture, in fact it is tlie number one thing that the government should be thinking of, because it is the major employer of labour, if you plan ii well you get it right. He disclosed the plans of the state government to capture more youth in agriculture, saying that Deliberate attempt will be made to get youth involve, though in die planning stage agriculture is part of the priority of the government". Speaking on his plan for the sector, he disclosed liiat a 10year strategic plan for the sectoris still underreview,he said
when the plan kick off, it would ensure that all developmental programmes is sustained, and invite donor agencies to partner with the sector. He added that when the expiring date for the Fadama 111 project comes, they intend to increase their counterpart funding; we want to get a scenario whereby the counterpart funding will increase so that all the farmers in the state actually benefit from the project". Speaking on the Niu billion facility to provide up to date information to the fanners in the state, the commission maintained that the aim of the government is to ensure that farmers set access to correct technology to ensure improved yield forfarmers.
