The general problem within the manufacturing industry are the risks associated with changing the business models when moving
from being a pure product manufacturer to providing services in support of the products, a move also known as servitization
(Vandermerwe & Rada, 1988). The specific problem with servitization in the manufacturing industry are the obstacles faced by the
organizations during the implementation. The purpose of this research is twofold. First, the primary purpose of this research is to
identify the critical success factors that contribute to the successful implementation of servitization models in manufacturing
companies globally. The second purpose is to identify the obstacles that impact the adoption of servitization models within the
manufacturing industry. By understanding the obstacles and identifying the critical success factors, as part of future studies, a
holistic roadmap may be created to support the move towards servitization. Two research questions have been formulated to guide.
