Hence they uses special purpose machine as the cost is low as compared CNC machines. The use of SPM increase productivity and maintain the accuracy of same operation for number of times. This paper gives literature survey about multi-spindle drilling machine and focuses on previous development in, Mult-spindle drilling machines. Key words: Multi –Spindle Drilling SPM, Productivity I. INTRODUCTION Multiple-spindle drilling machines are used for mass production as it save large time where many pieces of jobs having many holes are to be drilled. Multi-spindle drill machines are used in industries in order to increase the productivity of machining systems. The multiple spindle drilling machines are used to drill three or more holes in a work piece simultaneously, in one setting. The holes are drilled on number of work pieces with the same accuracy, so as to achieve interchangeability. The proposed work machine has three spindles driven by a single motor and all the spindles are on one side and fixed position. The motion of feeding work piece obtained by using pneumatically operated cylinder moving towards the drills head. The centre distance between the spindles is fixed as job requirement. In this proposed work we have to also design jig for mounting the work piece. The overall work is to design special purpose machine which reduce cycle time of operation and main objective it to increase productivity in large extent as compared to conventional drilling machine. II. LITERATURE REVIEW Prof. P. R. Sawant [1] et.al developed machine which has main objective was to drilling and tapping of TATA cylinder block which has 8 drills in which 7 holes of Ø 6.75mm and one of Ø 12mm also linear tapping operation of Ø12mm and angular tapping operation of Ø5.1mm. It saves time for loading and unloading due to use of hydraulic clamping and increases production rate, less rejection of work due to automatic control. Prof. Chukwumuanya [2] et.al investigated Design and develop multiple spindle drilling head for mass production of Peugeot 504 automobile brake drum. In this design they developed multi-spindle drilling head for drilling 6 holes at a time, in which 4 holes of Ø14.5mm and 2 holes of Ø8.5mm. They analysis the various gear forces theoretically. It conclude that msdh increases production rate as compare to individual drilling operation. Prof. M.B. Bankar [3] et.al Studied Improvement in design and manufacturing of multiple spindle drilling attachment, in which they uses planetary gear system for
drilling operation. This case study they briefly gives information about designing drilling attachment from motor selection to its gear box. This study concluded that Multispindle drilling attachment increase productivity, reduces cycle of operation and perform drilling operation more accurately. Prof. Bajirao H. NangarePatil [4] et.al Studied Design and development of gear box for multi-spindle drilling machine. This case study drilling of 26 holes of various sizes, are carried out on cylinder block. The sizes of drill are and nos. as Ø5 mm = 12 nos., Ø6 mm = 4 nos., Ø14.4 mm = 10.They also use Auto-Cad software for design of gear box, various parts and assembly of machine. This study conclude that due to use of spur gear noise reduction, reduction in cycle time, increases production rate and also holes are drilled with required accuracy and tolerances are maintained. M. Narasimha [5] et.al. Studied Design of adjustable multi-spindle attachment in this case study they design attachment for machining T-slots in a bolster plate. They studied milling of three T-slots in a single pass is done. The range of T-slot spacing for the present design is 40 mm – 160 mm. This study conclude that due use of this attachment milling three T-slots in single pass is done as compared to individual milling due to this production rate is increased. Pratik Parsania [6] et.al Studied on Design of hydraulic power pack for Multi spindle drilling SPM. In this case study it is shown that how effectively SPM work as compare to conventional drilling machine. In conventional drilling machine it takes 8 hours for drilling 2400 pieces per day and by using it takes only 3.33hours for drilling 2400 pieces per day hence it is largely affects the production rate. It also beneficial as compare to use of CNC machines because of the cost of CNC machines so high. Hence this case study concludes that use of SPM is most important in small scale industries. Prof. K.G.Sontakke [7] et.al Studied Design and analysis of drilling cum riveting machine they develop drilling machine cum with riveting machine to reduce operation time and transportation time for riveting purpose. This machine has orbital riveting machine for riveting purpose. This study concludes that using drilling cum riveting machine increases productivity. Prof.Ms.A.A.Shingavi [8] et.al Studied on Design of multiple spindle drilling machine. In this case study they developed multi-spindle drilling head which has six spindle assembly for drilling six holes at a time this assembly has planetary gear train for transmitting motion of from main arbor to sub spindles. This multi-spindle drilling head reduces time of drilling as six holes at a time are drilled this increases production rate and it has low weight and low cost. Mr.K.K.Powar [9] et.al Studied on Optimization of process parameter for multi-spindle drilling machine by using taguchi method. In this case study they investigates
