The silk factory is located in Solina, Srinagar, it is one of the oldest silk factories in India. It was established by Sir Thomas Wardle, president of the Silk Association of Great Bri ain. in 1897. At present only few blocks of the factory are in use and others are left to rui.
The aim of the design problem is to readapt the space and the proposol given for the site is Recreational center. Provision of active and passive recreation Community spaces and activities to bring together the neighbouring community (the social aspect) and community development Membership spaces to sustain the space (the finance aspect)
