Q: How do you define
a ‘Modern Day Wife’?
A Modern Day Wife is a woman who wants to be able to do it all and win at it. She wants to enjoy her career and she has goals that she is working toward. She wants to be present in her family, create her child’s future and ensure everyone is taken care of. She wants to look and feel her best, know what’s on trend, and most of all – enjoy doing all of these things!
Q: What can someone
expect from a digital MDW event / what are the ‘secret ingredients’ you try to add to each event?
When you go to an in-person event, there are certain elements that make it an experience for you. From the moment you walk in, you hear music, a cocktail waiter walks over to you to serve a drink, the lights are dimmed, candles are glowing in the background – it makes you feel a certain way. This is the type of mood, ambiance and experience we aim to achieve at our digital events. We curate a pre-show with a DJ so as soon as you log-in, you are hearing your favorite song by Kygo or The Weekend and are already excited to tune in. You then get walked through a cocktail-making session, maybe a Somalier will come on and give advice on wine – it’s all timelined out so that we build the momentum to the main show.
Then, tadah! The main show comes on – a celebrity opens it up, gives her tips for feeling your best and staying on track to achieve your goals. Then we are off... segment by segment, short, punchy, real – our speakers give information to our audience that is inspiring, tactical and from hard-won experience.
So, what will you get from a MDW digital event? Community, fun, a break from the usual schedule, amazing help and assistance to jump start your career and relationships. Modern Day Wife is “the village” that you hear about in the idiom “it takes a village.” Our events give you the community you need to keep yourself going. Secret ingredients - yes! Aesthetics, fine details, a professional tech platform, short & punchy – keeping you glued to your screen!
Q: What have been the benefits
of ‘2020’s pivot’ from being a Vancouver-based event, to today with online events?
We still are extremely centralized in Vancouver, but now we’re also creating and expanding our base throughout the US - LA, Manhattan, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Texas, Nashville. We’ve been able o reach so many more women - including
university women, young women who are starting their careers, moms, single moms. We’ve just been able to reach so many more people and help them form community.
Q: Share a bit about the
team and the synergy of working together
We have an amazing team of 27 women and men from all over the US and Canada. We have some great programs we’re working with like Asana to really get all of our agendas scheduled out. Everyone knows what they’re doing. Everyone really owns their projects and is excited about creating this brand together. We are a very ‘go-go, yesyes’ kind of group. We like to be friendly. We like to be upbeat. We like to collaborate. We like to have an open community. That’s basically how we operate, and that’s what makes us feel good. Q: What do you hope that
a woman at home gains from joining your next event?
She’s going to get inspiration on how she can do more. Maybe she wants to start a side business, to learn how to juggle things better, or to have more of a community. That’s what she’s going to get from this event.
Q: The future is still a bit
uncertain, but what’s ahead for MDW in your master plan?
So much! We could answer this in a whole essay. Right now it’s all about The Vault... unlocking the Vault (our membership program) and getting all of the benefits of being part of a community of women who want to expand in all areas of their life, surrounded by women who feel the same way.
