Marketing Update Spring 20 1 1

A busy couple of months in Hi-Tec SA with numerous events, promotions, activations and Hi-Tec in the public eye.

Green Card We recently partnered with Table Mountain National Park as they launched their ‘Green Card’. The beautiful setting of Boulders was the venue and here Mickey is seen with SANParks management. The Green Card allows users to access the paid areas of the park 12 times a year for only R80 (1 visit to Cape Point is R80 alone). Our logo is on all the cards. Later this month we will also attend the launch of the ‘Activity Card’ which we are also supporting. Table Mountain National Park ‘Green Card’.

Magazine The SAMParks official magazine Wild has been revamped and updated and we featured our footwear clothing in a special offer to subscribers.

Orginized hikes

ttended n hike a o o m ll u F s and Chri by Adolf

Our organized hikes have been a highlight of 2011. We have partnered with Getaway magazine and Delvera estate to sponsor hike in Cape Town, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal. All have been incredibly well supported and Hi-Tec staff have had the opportunity to mix with our customers and potential customers. The recent full moon hike just outside of CT was attended by Adolf and Chris.

‘Change a Life’

ke Race Mountain Bi

MTB Race Ben pulled of a bit of coup when he received a request from a mountain bike race who had NO branding for their event. Ben took the trouble to haul our arch, gazebo and banners to the event. The result, for most of the parcipants, it looked like a Hi-Tec event, with little cost to company.

Every girl is a princess We supported the every girl is a princess initiative at Cavendish shopping centre, where the aim was to get 1000 signatures against rape and abuse of young girls.

The Martin Dreyer ‘Change a Life’ academy continues to flourish with the support of Hi-Tec. The guys have been in action at a number of recent events including the Berg marathon, which seriously tested their skills. The guys also took part in the recent time-freight multisport race with success. Martin and Jeannie also recently featured on the SABC TV breakfast show Expresso. Great exposure for Hi-Tec as they wore their Hi-Tec branded clothing most of the time (the 7 minute clips were paid for by their other sponsor USN) You can see the clips on youtube here www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tOgHzqKT2Q

Alex & Sona Poussin August saw our global brand ambassadors Alex and Sonia Poussin on a whirlwind tour of SA promoting their new book. Book signings and presentation in Gauteng, KZN and Cape Town saw them cross the country. We assisted at all the events and received a good response from those who attended the various events. On their last day Alex spoke at our sales conference before rushing off to another talk!

Gauteng trail series Our Gauteng trail series goes from strength to strength, with the number of runners increasing at each race. We use a variety of venues, most of which are new to trail races, thus keeping the races fresh and interesting. Our Joburg team have been at every event, erecting branding, interacting with runners and taking part. The pic shows Ben van der Westhuisen (859) trailing one of our younger runners, number 821! Come on Ben, he’s only 8! Agent W Kruger is seen here with one of the many benefits of representing Hi-Tec at events. Thanks for all your hard work Werner!

Tekkie Town

Peninsula Ultra Fun Run

We supplied one of biggest retail partners Tekkie Town with kit for their netball team. Results have been mixed, but we are sure they are the best kitted out team in the league! Nic de Be er & Ian Little

Jeanine Bomford We continue to get great coverage from our brand ambassador Jeannie Bomford, who has had an excellent year racing. This was one of the more interesting features. A younger Jeannie for once losing out in a race. We used this competition in Go Multi magazine to promote our summer sandals. Also seen here, turning her hand (or feet) to road running.

Hi-Tec sponsored the grand daddy of trail races in the Western Cape, the Peninsula Ultra Fun Run (PUFfeR) an 80km jaunt from Cape Point to the Waterfront. We also had the winner in Nic de Beer who was wearing Infinity trail shoes. We are steadily ticking off wins in all the major SA trail races. Next up (for Nic and Hi-Tec) is the Otter African Trail race, our marque event of the year. More of that later. Here’s Nic being ‘paced’ for the first 20km by Marketing Manager Ian Little.

Coming up... The few weeks are action packed with the Hi-Tec African Otter Trail Run attracting the best field for a trail race this year, and 2 fully subscribed races.

F.E.A.T

Facebook & Twitter With our facebook following standing at 14,000 we are about to relaunch our twitter presence with a campaign that will tie in with our retail partner Tekkie Town. We will post clues on our twitter feed which will lead the eventual winner to a TT store somewhere in SA. With 164 stores nationwide they are the perfect partner for this location based promotion. More details to follow in the next newsletter.

We also have the F.E.A.T. evening in Joburg on 6th October, a innovative event with adventurers speaking for just 7 minutes each. There is a great line up of speakers including controversial sports scientist Dr Ross Tucker and

Virgin Sport Industry Nominations We have submitted 4 nomination for the Virgin Sports Industry Awards (last year we won 1 award for the Liquid Mountaineering viral. This year we have entered the Change A Life Academy, the Otter African Trail Run (for 2 awards) and the Infinity Challenge. We would love to improve on the 1 award and 2 nominations we received last year.

Sponsorship with Two Oceans Aquarium

We have agreed a 3 year sponsorship with the Two Oceans Aquarium specifically for the microscope exhibition which will be revamped and reopened in December. The theme will be ‘Inspired By (small) Life! The curatorial team will all wear Hi-Tec footwear and we will receive significant branding both in the aquarium and on the billboard entering the Waterfront.

And finally! Hi-Tec has always been a family business, and as you can see we like to start them young in SA. Our new beach tent gets some rigorous testing in the office from our youngest employee!
