GIRLS GYMNASTICS June 20–24 • Resident: $495 • Commuter: $410 ELIGIBILITY Open to any and all girls
The purpose of the Fighting Illini Girls Gymnastics Camp is to expose developing gymnasts to all facets of gymnastics in a positive environment. We welcome all levels interested in learning and training in a safe setting away from their normal year-round facility. Last year, campers ranged from novice to Level 10.
ages 8-18.
REGISTRATION Check in is on the first day of camp. The first meal is dinner. Specific check in/out information will be sent with the confirmation and can be found on the website: www.fightingillini. com/camps.
During camp, athletes are exposed to various teaching techniques, progressions and philosophies from a diversified staff, including: club and high school coaches, college coaches and our very own ILLINI coaching staff and athletes. Each gymnast is screened and placed into a group based on skill level and age. This allows our camp coaches to tailor the workouts to meet individual needs, while at the same time places the gymnasts in a conducive peer environment.
CAMP FEES
Resident: fees include four nights lodging, meals, instruction, recreation, and a camp t-shirt. Commuters: Lunch is included in the camp cost, along with dinner three of the four evenings. Breakfast and dinner on Sunday can be purchased at check in or a camper may leave with a parent or guardian during the dinner meal and RETURN for the evening session.
Practice sessions touch on confidence, safety awareness, discipline, time management, goal setting and creativity. In addition to seven hours a day of gymnastics practice, the Fighting Illini Girls Gymnastics Camp offers planned activities in the evening to give campers time outside the gym to hang out with their friends and make new ones. Enrollment is limited to ensure each camper receives personalized instruction. Coach Landrus coaches campers every session and oversees all training sessions.

PERSONAL NEEDS Several leotards, grips (if you wear them), a pair of running shoes, athletic tape, a warm sweatshirt or light jacket, rain gear, laundry bag, swimming suit, sunscreen, toiletries, a pillow, bed linens, blanket or sleeping bag, towels, washcloth and soap.

It is an excellent environment for campers to improve their gymnastics ability. It includes a variety of FIG specification equipment including four balance beams, two sets of uneven bars, a pit bar, two vaulting tables, a Palmer spring floor and a tumble track. Additionally, our foam pit is utilized for vault, tumbling and bar dismounts.

MEET THE COACHES KIM LANDRUS – CAMP DIRECTOR Kim Landrus, who is in her 13th year as a coach for the Illini, was named the head coach for the Illinois women’s gymnastics team after spending the previous eight years as assistant, associate head, and interim head coach. Landrus has had much success during her tenure on the Illinois staff. Career highlights at Illinois include: • A top 25 ranking for nine consecutive years (2006-2014) with a 2014 national ranking of 11th • NCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year (2009) • Four NCAA National appearances (2009, 2011, 2013 and 2014) • Eleven straight NCAA Regional appearances from 2004-2014 • The top ten team scores in the Illinois record books since her arrival • Six All-American awards in a single season, the most in school history (2011) • Eight NCAA Regional event titles (bar: 1, beam: 4, floor: 1, All-Around: 2) • Two NCAA All-Americans on the balance beam (2008 and 2009)

JACOB LEE Jacob Lee enters his first season as assistant coach for the women’s gymnastics program after considerable familiarity in the Big Ten as an athlete and coach. Lee spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Iowa coaching vault, bars, and floor. Lee’s primary coaching duties for the Illini will be on the uneven bars, while sharing his expertise on the other events. Career coaching highlights include: • An NCAA Regional appearance in his first season at Iowa (2013) • A No. 21 national ranking on floor exercise (2013) • A total of six gymnasts qualified for NCAA Regionals (2014)
CHAD WIEST Chad Wiest returned to his alma mater in 2014 and enters his second season as the assistant coach for the women’s gymnastics program. Wiest graduated from Illinois in 2011 with a recreation, sport and tourism degree and spent two seasons as the vault and floor exercise coach at Bowling Green University. Wiest resumes that role with the Orange and Blue. Career coaching highlights include: • Highest regional qualifying score in over ten years on both vault and floor (2014) • Three Illini in the top 100 on floor (2014) • Three of the top four vault scores in school history, including the alltime program record of 49.425 (2014) • A perfect 10 on vault (2014) • A MAC vault champion (2013) • An integral part of helping the Falcons improve their regional qualifying score by more than three points (2012)
