2016
PREFACE Entrepreneurship has been recognized as a major determinant of economic growth in most developed countries. Increased entrepreneurial activities and movements have resulted in an environment of sustainable economic growth and controlled unemployment in North America over the last 20 years. In Europe, and more importantly in Asia, prominent leaders, politicians, and policy makers have emerged as they realize the potential of entrepreneurship to improve growth rates and decrease unemployment which would result in so many other positive implications. Usually, in countries that are industrialized, the debate on entrepreneurship revolves around invention and the subsequent creation of new ventures in innovative industries. Keeping in view the growing recognition of entrepreneurship is pivotal to achieve the sustainable growth of Indonesia itself as entrepreneurship is very relevant to both developed and developing economies. There are numerous arguments as to why small and medium enterprises have an important role to play in the economies of peripheral areas of developing countries. Most are without exception heralded as a means by which production output and exports may be improved, employment increased and general development enhanced. However, you and I would agree that our country still do not have and appropriate, critical framework with which to understand the required comprehension and mindset to organize enterprises. In aiming to rectify this problem, the committee also attempt to find out the key organizational features of common enterprises in Indonesia today. As these attempts are also done by professionals, many aspects of business have come to surface, that includes the attention being paid to society, cultural and gender problems which influence and are influenced by how the entrepreneurs operate within their political and economic environment. AIESEC in Universitas Indonesia aspires to be a platform of entrepreneurial mindset booster by conducting Youth Speak Forum 2016 with our grand theme: “Entrepreneurship to achieve better economic growth whilst creating positive impact by accessing new markets and making bolder moves.” Over the past decades, AIESEC has demonstrated a highly successful model that promotes leadership through educational events and student exchange programs. In this opportunity, AIESEC in Universitas Indonesia is looking to promote entrepreneurship which eventually would lead to the birth of new entrepreneurs, and thus facilitating job creation in the process. The committee aims to provide a systematic and structured educational seminar towards building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Indonesia.

EVENT Youth Speak Forum was initiated as the realization of the Youth Action Summit held by AIESEC International, in collaboration with the United Nation's Envoy on Youth. The Youth Action Summit was an international conference which discussed global issues and how youth could participate in giving impact on those issues by addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG). By appointing the theme of Entrepreneurship, Youth Speak Forum in Jakarta 2016 has chosen to carry on the points 8 and 11 of the UN SDG, which are Sustainable Cities and Communities & Decent Work and Economic Growth because we believe that in our modern society nowadays, Entrepreneurship is one of the most effective means in helping to achieve those points of the UN SDG. While we always hold up the spirit of Silicon Valley as the model of entrepreneurial success, the reality is that entrepreneurs exist everywhere, even in Indonesia. Most young people today, however, need more conviction to rise; they need support, investment, and a community. Indonesian youths need only a gentle push to bring about their entrepreneurial passion and mindset. In organizing such event, Youth Speak Forum in Jakarta has high hopes that Indonesian youths will be driven to start their own business to further transform Indonesia into an independent global powerhouse.
