All-New Range Rover Sport Leads Land Rover Success In 4x4 Magazine Awards As The 2014 4x4 Of The Year Land Rover is the most successful manufacturer in 4x4 Magazine’s 2014 awards, securing two class wins and the ultimate ‘4x4 of the Year’ title. The new Range Rover Sport saw off competition from 24 of the market’s finest all-wheel drive models to take both the ‘Premium’ class and the overall 2014 honour, while the Range Rover Evoque proved its mettle by claiming honours in the ‘Top Range SUV’ class. The Land Rover Defender was “highly recommended” in the ‘Hardcore’ class and the new Range Rover was second only to its Range Rover Sport sibling in the ‘Premium’ category. Land Rover To Launch Its First Hybrid Range Rover Models Land Rover is launching its firstever hybrid models – the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid – which will deliver outstanding fuel economy, significantly lower CO2 emissions and retain Land Rover’s renowned capability and performance. We were delighted to support this event again, by lending the Rally Organisers, four Land Rovers plus the Range Rover Evoque which was used by Lloyd Walker and our Dealer Principal, Peter Billam in their roles as Chief Timekeeper at the event. The Rally started on the Friday night in the Yorkshire Forests. On Saturday morning, the first stages took place on the Duncombe Park Estate at Helmsley before heading up to Croft Circuit. The rally then moved on to Hamsterley and Pundershaw Forests with an over-night stop at Carlisle. The Sunday Stages used the massive Kielder Forest Complex with back to back stages which were challenging to say the least! Then back to Carlisle for the finish in the evening. It was great to see some of our customers either competing or spectating on the event. The Rally was won by Yorkshire man, Steve Bannister (aka Banner) with Kevin Rea in his Ford Escort Mk2.
