Land Rover has given the Freelander 2 a premium overhaul, delivering even better comfort, convenience and driving enjoyment. Interior equipment levels soar to new heights with a host of fresh and exciting features including three new colour ways, Aintree Green, Havana and Mauritius Blue, brand new centre console, 7-inch colour touch screen with enhanced audio systems from Meridian, 7-day timed climate system and optional satellite navigation, whilst an all new 17-inch alloy wheel design becomes available as an option at entry-level. Exteriors gain a number of new integrated design features. Boasting the latest in Xenon LED technology, the front and rear lamps have been revamped giving the Freelander 2 a sportier yet purposeful new look, set off with a new signature graphic in the front running lights. The grille and fog lamp bezels now sport a bright finish and there are further paint detailing changes. Passive start replaces key dock and there’s a new “intelligent” electric parking brake which adjusts brake force according to the slope the vehicle is parked on. “Say What You See” – a voice activation system with visual prompts, and rear view camera capability are also both new to the Freelander 2. Freelander buyers can continue to choose from two outstanding and highly refined diesel engines, the 2.2-litre 150PS TD4 and 190PS SD4 with four-wheel drive. For extra economy, the 2.2-litre 150PS engine is also available in eD4 two-wheel drive form. Equipped with sixspeed manual transmission and Stop/Start, the eD4 achieves an impressive 47.1mpg (6.0 L/100km) and CO2 emissions of 159g/km. Boston Dragon Race On Sunday 11th August, both Land Rover dealerships from Boston and Market Rasen battled for the pride of their dealership by taking part in the Boston Dragon Boat Race at Witham Country Park in Boston. The aim of the Boat Race was to raise monies for local charities. It was a fantastic day and the Duckworth Teams would like to thank all those who attended the race and cheered us on!

We were delighted to provide the Methodist Church in Market Rasen with a donation to help towards this year’s Anniversary Flower Festival to celebrate the church building’s 150th anniversary.

Land Rover announces upgrades to the multi-award winning 2014 Discovery. The 2014 Discovery receives a new look, new badging, new fuel stretching technology, improved audio systems and a new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features to broaden its appeal even further. The core attributes are carried over into the 2014 models which will be available to order now with deliveries from mid-November. For 2014, Discovery has been given a new ‘face’ and numerous detail exterior changes. A new front grille, new front bumper, new headlamp design, new daytime running lights with a distinctive LED signature, plus two new alloy wheel designs, further enhance the Discovery’s appearance. To give vehicles a heightened level of distinction, the optional ‘Black Design Pack’ remains available for 2014 models, with revised detailing, plus 20-inch black alloy wheels. In recognition of the Discovery’s established identity, the refreshed exterior design for 2014 also incorporates a change of identity for the vehicle in many markets. For the first time ever, the name ‘Discovery’ name replaces ‘Land Rover’ on the bonnet and the number 4 will be removed from the tailgate leaving just the word ‘Discovery.’ Underlining Land Rover’s commitment to power with sustainability, the 2014 Discovery will continue to be available with the class-leading 256PS 3.0 SDV6 - with CO2 emissions reduced from 230g/km to 213g/km, and fuel consumption improved to 35.3mpg. All models are equipped with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features for the 2014 Discovery include: Wade Sensing (a technology unique to Land Rover), Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection and T-junction Cameras. To align the 2014 Discovery with other Range Rover vehicles, it will be available with Meridian premium audio. The standard system features 8 speakers and 380 Watts of power, while the Meridian Surround system produces an impressive 825 Watts output and features 17 speakers.

WINTER DRIVING Prepare to enjoy winter on the road ... Winter can be wonderful, but there’s no denying it’s the most challenging season for drivers. Short days, extreme weather and freezing temperatures often make for treacherous roads. As a Land Rover owner, you can rest assured that you are in command of one of the best all-conditions vehicles in the world. But it still pays to be vigilant, so we’ve produced this step-by-step guide which lists the essential checks to make before setting out this winter.

Antifreeze The coolant level should be checked regularly and topped-up with the correct antifreeze mixture. A professional should analyse its concentration to ensure optimum cold temperature protection. Battery The most common cause of winter breakdowns. Older batteries may struggle in the cold. Check your battery and replace it if necessary. Fuel Bad weather can cause unexpected, lengthy delays, don’t be caught short of fuel – always keep at least a quarter of a tank in your vehicle. Lights See and be seen, night and day. Check and clean all lights regularly and carry spare bulbs. Tyres You need at least 3mm of tread. Consider winter tyres for improved safety. Check pressures once a fortnight, at least: for every 5°C that the weather drops, a tyre will lose about 1 psi of pressure.

At our Market Rasen dealership, Sophie Alltoft has completed the Intermediate Apprenticeship and was runner up at the recent Land Rover Apprentice of the Year Finals. Windscreen Reduce dazzle from the low sun by keeping the screen clean inside and out. Now is also a good time to renew worn wiper blades. Screen wash Use a 50% mix of a good quality screen wash to reduce the chance of freezing in frosty weather. Locks and door seals Stop doors freezing shut with a thin coat of polish or Vaseline on rubber door seals. A squirt of water dispersant (WD-40) in locks will help stop them freezing. Equipment Make sure you’ve got the right kit on board including de-icer and a scraper. If you’re heading for the slopes, invest in quality Land Rover tyre snow chains and a roof rack to stow your gear safely.

Land Rover is launching its first-ever hybrid models – the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid – which will deliver outstanding fuel economy, significantly lower CO2 emissions and retain Land Rover’s renowned capability and performance. The two all-aluminium models are based on Land Rover’s Premium Lightweight Architecture and share an identical powertrain. They are the world’s first premium diesel SUV hybrids. The new Range Rover Hybrid powertrain features three driver-selectable modes and combines Land Rover’s popular 3-litre SDV6 diesel engine with a 35kW electric motor integrated with the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The hybrid system, including lithium ion battery pack, inverter and electric motor weighs less than 120kg. The electric motor produces 170Nm torque to boost acceleration and drives the vehicle in EV Mode. The motor also acts as a generator, harvesting kinetic energy through regenerative braking, charging the battery when the vehicle is slowing. In driver-selectable EV mode the Range Rover Hybrid can travel at speeds of up to 30mph for a range of up to one mile before the diesel engine seamlessly restarts. Together, output of the diesel engine and electric motor is 340hp at 4,000rpm and a classleading 700Nm torque between 1,500-3,000rpm. Both models accelerate to 62mph in under seven seconds, deliver strong transient and mid-range performance with a top speed of 135mph, combined with a 26 percent reduction in CO2 emissions to 169g/km, equivalent
to 44.1mpg on the combined cycle.
The latest generation Range Rover models have all been designed with the integration of a hybrid system in mind. Consequently, the liquid cooled battery pack is mounted beneath the floor of the vehicle in a protective boron-steel cradle without impacting on the cabin or luggage space. The Range Rover Hybrid has the same five-seat capacity and luggage space as the standard vehicle and retains the full-size spare wheel. This no-compromise philosophy is echoed in the Range Rover Sport Hybrid whose interior is unchanged from the standard model, right down to the 5+2 seating. Both hybrid Range Rover models continue to deliver a class-leading breadth of capability and versatility, enhanced by the exceptionally linear torque delivery from the powertrain and retaining Land Rover’s peerless four-wheel drive system including Terrain Response® 2, with uncompromised wading and ground clearance.
