Dear Valued Customer,
Friday 1st March saw the staff and friends of Hillendale & Image Red join forces once again to raise money for Dementia UK. Taking part in the national Time for a Cuppa initiative staff baked – or bought - cakes, biscuits and scones that were then offered to our customers and visitors in exchange for a donation in aid of this worthy cause.
2013 seems to be flying by already and what an exciting year it has been so far.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone concerned we raised £151.51 for this fantastic charity. A special thank you to our local MP Andrew Stephenson for his support.
The All New Range Rover was launched in January and has proved itself to be the World Class Car we dreamt of. So far this year twenty nine excited owners have taken delivery of their new Range Rover’s and their feedback on the car has been amazing. Hot on the heels of The All New Range Rover is The All New Range Rover Sport which was introduced in New York and showcased by none other than 007 himself, Daniel Craig. It is no surprise to find that orders for this amazing new car have real momentum, so if you are interested please talk to us now. We expect to have sold our allocation well into 2014 by the time the car is launched. More details can be found on Land Rover’s website. We continue to support as many local charities as we can and details of some of the work we do can be found further on in Trailblazer along with what the team have been up to and of course info on the occasional customer! Recently, we were delighted to supply David Fishwick’s, from The Bank of Dave in Burnley, new Range Rover Sport. I am sure Dave will be well known to many of you and I hope you admire the work he has been doing for local people and small local businesses as much as I do. RED NOSE DAY SOMETHING FUNNY FOR MONEY As ever, the team at Hillendale were more than ready to take on the Comic Relief challenge this year to do ‘Something Funny for Money’.
she shaved her head for Comic Relief as well as having a Range Rover Sport in the showroom filled to the brim with red balloons – with a competition to guess how many balloons it had taken to fill it.
As part of our fundraising fortnight, the staff all took part in various activities including a ‘Great British Bake Sale’ with various homemade (and the odd shop bought) cakes and treats for sale in the showroom. There was also a sweep stake to guess which wig Jessie J would like once
Staff also took part in a ‘Dress Down’ day by wearing an item of red clothing or an official Red Nose Day t-shirt for a donation of £2. (Even Orangey, the Hillendale mascot joined in with his very own Red Nose Day t-shirt).
All in all our new vehicle sales year to date have passed 190 units with used sales adding a further 81 to our volumes, so on behalf of the team here may I thank you for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you at our Great Outdoors Family Day on 9th June (please see the back cover for details).

With their first dance to Eternal Love by PJ & Duncan (Ironic coincidence as they were number one in the charts that weekend with ‘Let’s get ready to Rhumble’), and wedding photography taken at Sawley Abbey; it really was a day to remember. Janine & Luke - We all hope you have a fantastic time on honeymoon in the Dominican Republic next month and we wish you both a long and happy life together. Congratulations!

Hillendale Land Rover are thrilled to be supporting McMillan Nursery School with their outdoor based learning at the Whitehough Outdoor Centre. Thanks to Hillendale 10 groups of 12 youngsters, aged between 3 and 4 years, will be taking the short trip from their central Nelson school to the activity centre, nestled at the foot of Pendle Hill. Tracey Taylforth, from Hillendale, was lucky enough to take the trip with the first group earlier this month, where she saw firsthand how beneficial it was for the children. Wrapping up warm and donning their shiny new wellingtons the children were encouraged to use all their senses in this new learning environment. With fun learning activities based around shapes, colours, sizes and sound the children particularly enjoyed their walk through the woods covering each other with leaves and squelching through mud! The final activity of the day was a bear hunt which took place in a converted barn. The youngsters wore hard hats fitted with lamps and cautiously entered the labyrinth of dark narrow tunnels in search of the teddy bear. Triumphant in their challenge the day was really one you could say was out of the ordinary!

MEET THE CUSTOMER MR DAVID FISHWICK Meet David Fishwick. Local Entrepreneur, businessman and the man behind the CH4 series ‘Bank of Dave’. Having recently purchased a vehicle at Hillendale, we thought who better to feature as our ‘Meet the Customer’ than our very own local celebrity. Arriving in his new Range Rover Sport on route to a filming location; Dave is already clocking up the miles with the Range Rover lending itself brilliantly to both work and play, as he travels across the country filming a new mini series on pay day loans. Having also appeared in ‘Secret Millions’ tackling youth employment; he also mentioned a new 6 part series being kept firmly under wraps to be revealed later this year. Now a familiar face at Hillendale, Dave is instantly recognisable appearing across our TV screens; he is however a true Lancastrian at heart. Born in Nelson, Dave has lived in Burnley most of his life and he has made his name as the largest supplier of minibuses in the country with its head office based in Colne. With a deep connection with the area he has never forgotten his humble beginnings despite his obvious fame and success - something he has highlighted time and again in his ventures away from his day job. Dave rose to fame after what has become known as a real life ‘David & Goliath’ battle against the high street banks in the UK. With the notoriety of the recent banking crisis and the effects that it was having on loyal customers, Dave decided to take matters into his own hands tearing up the rule book on retail banking. It was this that generated a huge amount of media interest leading to the Channel 4 series and when talking to us it was obvious he was extremely passionate about tackling the odds and providing opportunities for real change; something he spoke of directly in relation to Burnley and the local area.

A real car enthusiast and a pilot in his own right, Dave loves nothing more than regular flights in his helicopter and with his rising profile he is still very much in touch with the local area in support of local businesses. We look forward to welcoming him back to the dealership in the near future and are in anticipation of his next venture. We wish him all the best with his new Channel 4 series and look forward to spotting his new Range Rover Sport being used widely in the filming.

MEET THE TEAM Stuart Livesey A familiar face around the dealership, with 12 years of experience at Hillendale and further experience in the automotive trade, needless to say Stuart is a vital member of our ‘Parts & Service’ operation.

Starting his career at Mitsubishi, he began as a parts driver here at Hillendale and has worked his way up to his current role as Parts Supervisor. Stuart enjoys the busy environment and variety that he deals with on a day to day basis as well as working alongside a great team of people. A family man, there is nothing Stuart likes doing more than spending quality time with his wife and his three children whether on days out to the Lakes or indeed at home on the Xbox and Playstation, being a keen gamer. His interests also include F1 having been to the British Grand Prix not so long ago, supporting Manchester United, comics and cars. As one of our long standing staff members, we look forward to working alongside you for years to come.
Student Placements from Studio School in Accrington Hillendale Land Rover are pleased to announce our support of the Hyndburn Studio School based in Accrington – the first of its kind in Lancashire.

The ‘Accross’ Studio School is aimed specifically at young people aged between 14-19 years old and provides a high quality, personalised learning experience, focussed on supporting the transition from school to work. As well as offering the core national curriculum subjects to GCSE level the Hyndburn Studio School offers vocational courses in Business and Finance, Media and Marketing, Automotive Technologies and Sport, Leisure and Hospitality. In support of the school, Hillendale have been able to offer two students a ten week work placement studying Automotive Technologies. The placements will offer an insight into our service department and workshop offering an opportunity for them to get ‘hands-on’ with vehicles and learning about the Hillendale approach to all things Land Rover and Jaguar. The two students were selected through an interview process at the dealership where they were assessed for their suitability for work experience and
are now attending every Wednesday from 8.30-5.30 working alongside our workshop technicians. Kenny Curran, our After Sales Manager who was involved in the selection process and over sees the student placements had this to say; “We’re always planning for the future and working with the Studio School and other local schools allows us to encourage local growth and talent, providing a springboard to a possible apprenticeship or indeed better career prospects. I started my career as an apprentice in the motor trade and so it’s encouraging for me to be able to offer the same opportunities to youngsters looking to join the industry”. Sean Todd, the Deputy Head at Accrington & Rossendale College went on to say; “Hillendale have provided a first class placement opportunity to our students that has increased their skills set and given them a great experience which can be reflected on their CV’s. One of the students has already found a Saturday job in the industry and the other is actively seeking further opportunities.” We wish them all the best with their work placements and hope that they’re enjoying their time with us.
