Inspiring new shoots September 2014
CrossFit II
Studio Business
Cross Fit II Photographer: Corey Jenkins AD: Lisa Curesky Location: Encintas, California Collection: Cultura RF
• CAST: The models in this shoot are mainly friends of the photographer, but more
importantly, they are real participants in the CrossFit style of training. They are real people which is important for the believability of the shoot as well as conveying the right form and level of fitness for the images. • KEY CONCEPTS: Strength / Ability / Teamwork / Form /Dedication / Fitness • LOCATION: A real CrossFit gym, but a location like this has its challenges. Gyms in general can be a bit dark and gritty, and do not always make an attractive backdrop for shooting. • With Corey, the shoot does not end with the processing of the files. He generally takes all of his shoots to the next level with post production, as he did here, adding a warm vibe to the indoor shots and then slightly desaturating the outside shots. This treatment takes the product from what could have been a very editorial execution to a commercial product that can appeal to a wider audience on a more conceptual level • CAMERA VIEWPOINT: Corey's angles are very dynamic and he makes the viewer feel as though they are part of the action.

Military Homecoming
Shoot: Military Homecoming Photographer: Raphye Alexius AD: Christina Dittmar Location: Los Angeles, CA Keywords: Celebration, Connection, Happiness, Togetherness, Love
•America has been at war for so many years and I feel like we have not
covered this topic much. I felt like a military homecoming concept could be an uplifting and commercial way to incorporate this theme and it fills a bit of a hole in the Image Source collection. Raphye wanted to do a lifestyle shoot with me and she jumped at this idea. She put up a casting for actual soliders and civilans to part take in our production and we shot at her friends house. We concentrated on a celebratory tone to the shoot with some shots being more conceptual and some more subtle.
Women Leadership
Photographer: Leonora Saunders AD: Siri Vorbeck Women Leadership
• Inspired by various project Leonora, does in her assignment work around
female leadership for Unions and charity organisations, a constant demand of “power women” and Getty’s big “Lean in” campaign- we wanted to do a shoot around female leadership.
• The idea was to show a group of women building and planning a business and then working together. We utilised an empty office to portrait the planning stage and then team work, communication in an already finished office. • We wanted to create very graphic strong image with a super- reduced colour palette, I wanted images shot from a perspective of observation, shooting through people and objects, utilising reflections from glass and shiny tables, leaving always space for copy and try to keep the body language very authentic and real.
• We have worked here not with models, but all women working in various business environment.
•Due to the very neutral colour palette, I can imagine the images fitting into a lot of business brochures and campaigns for a lot of sectors, like banking, insurance, finance…..
Creative Business
Photographer: Georgia Kuhn AD: Sarah Perkins Creative Business shoot Location: London The brief was to to produce images that reflect how small creative businesses operate, in contemporary workspaces. Touching upon current ways of working such as hot- desking, informal meetings over coffee, being self employed and every day goings on, when running your own business.
•Keywords: skill, independence, pride, creativity, purpose •Key concept: Images are loose and relaxed to reflect the informal nature of how the business
operates. The camera angles allow the audience to gain an up close perspective, letting you feel involved in whats going on. Images feel inviting and personal, which could create an emotional response from buyers/clients.
•We kept images as authentic as possible, to avoid looking too clean and dated. •Mix of age and ethnicity to appeal to a wider market. •Whilst continuing to incorporate technology and making references to digital workflow in nearly
every image, (portfolios on iPads and taking reference shots on iPhones etc) we didn’t want to make this a focus, as it’s really a given for any business now. Instead, the working relationship between people and the craft/skill involved takes centre stage.
•Inspiration from: Lumina “work” portfolio, VSCO journal posts, Georgia’s ongoing “creatives”
project and growing culture of creative contemporary workspaces - hot-desking, networking hubs, etc.
Cagliari Fitness
Cagliari Fitness Shoot Photographer: Antonio Saba Art Director: Tom Laybourne Location: Cagliari, Sardinia Collection: Cultura RM
• Tapping into an increasingly health conscious society who prioritise keeping fit and looking good. • Expectations on facilities and service are now higher and personal trainers are not uncommon or limited to the wealthy. • Model was very familiar with training and exercise to make sure the images are honest and believable. • European feel through subtle hints in the background landscape/ architecture and casting. The subtlety allows the images to remain relevant for other markets.

South America
South America Photographer: Ben Pipe Art Director: Lee Wheatley Location: Chile & Argentina •
• • • •
Photographer spent two months in South America. The brief was to provide us with posed and released travel, but also contemporary society, local customs and cultures, and beautiful landscapes. This is a tiny example of the type of images the photographer took. To remain on brief, Ben would email over examples and ask for direction in terms of location, and relevance to the collection. The images range from tight images providing a narrative, to expansive. The look and feel is completely contemporary, loose where unposed, positive, and showcase South America well.
