From the Editor Welcome to the Coast this summer. How the Central Coast has changed in the last 10 years. We used to go to other places for good food, sporting events, entertainment and lots more. Now everyone comes here to the Coast. We have it all and we have the best of it. Top chefs work in our restaurants, we have world class events and the best beaches, parks, reserves and now we can boast 5 & 4 star accommodation, how very privileged we are that now we can get it all locally. Both Councils are working on making it even better and the next 12 months you will have the opening of some fantastic new venues and wonderful new restaurants on the gosford waterfront that the whole family can enjoy. See the Wyong to Yarramalong section for an update on the wonderful things happening there. Emma, Emilia and I enjoyed the new Tapas menu at Pullmans Magenta Shores and it is fantastic, our review is on p53. Ready to welcome you and your friends and family, Pullmans Magenta Shores is our new local; we spend a lot of enjoyable time here.

Emma and I were also blessed with a treatment at Vie Spa see p22. We are still feeling wonderful from this experience. Scott Buchanan whom I thank every day for the flexibility he gives to my spine, has moved to a better more serviceable address, see p15. Of course the lovely Teena has moved with him. I hope that you are ready to celebrate; I am, as this is my birthday month and I continue celebrating every day till the next one. Get your diary ready as there is so much for you to look forward to doing in this issue. Please when you are out and about visiting our wonderful advertisers, let them know you found them in iMag. It helps to know. I will be comparing the fashion parade for Deborah Buckley on 7th November at 3pm, see p22. Do come I would love to meet you.

The festive fun starts on the Central Coast!
Wyong Shire’s beautiful lakes area will be taken over by more than 30 events when the new Wyong Lakes Festival hits the Shire from 7-15 November. The opening weekend will kick off with a performance by the Central Coast’s own Ellie Drennan, winner of The Voice, as part of a five hour entertainment spectacular. The nine day Festival will feature a program of sporting, family, cultural, educational and live music events on and surrounding the Tuggerah Lakes catchment area. All events will be free for spectators to enjoy, with opportunities for people to participate in some of the events. The new Long Jetty Street Festival will be putting the ‘street’ back into Street Festival when it comes to Thompson Street on Sunday 22 November. It will coincide with the year of the 100th Anniversary of the Long Jetty and will include Food Truck Alley, The Strip, LongJ Stage and an Art Precinct. The Brisbane Water Oyster Festival (Sunday 8 Nov) is back again and continues to support the region’s primary industry of Oyster Farming. Held at Ettalong Beach, enjoy fine wine from local and regional producers, interactive fun for adults and kids... and plenty of gourmet food! Don’t miss the ‘How Many Oysters Can You Eat in 30 Seconds competition’ and all the live entertainment on stage. In December our attention turns to Christmas! Get an early start on your Christmas shopping and pick up an early Christmas gift this year at the Christmas Fair 2015, presented by Avoca Beachside Markets at Mt Penang Gardens, on 6 December. Take your picnic blanket and head to Mingara Recreation Club on Sunday 20 December for a star studded line-up at Christmas under the Stars. If you are at The Entrance on Christmas Eve head down to Memorial Park for a traditional Carols by Candlelight with a free night of carols, amusement rides, market stalls, Santa and Mrs Claus and a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm. Get your New Years Eve off to a bang with celebrations on at The Entrance with live entertainment, amusement rides, stalls and fireworks at 9pm. In Gosford, Twilight races will be running at

Deep rural valleys and an unspoilt mountain backdrop frame heritage pockets and a thriving urban centre with dining and retail. Summer Events Known for its beaches, sporting and recreational activities, the area also has a year round calendar of cultural, lifestyle, music and food and wine events. Alison Mortiss - Shadowing Shackleton November 19-28 Bobbie P Gallery presents a very unique exhibition by local glass artist, Alison Mortiss. The works are inspired by a trip to Antartica in 2014, following the footsteps of early explorer Ernest Shackleton. Glass captures and reflects light in a similar way to ice with the structures in Antarctica created by sub zero temperatures in contrast with the creation of glass forms forged by fire in excess of 800 degrees C.
Exhibition November 19-28 Opening Night Thursday November 19, 6-8pm (RSVP) and artist talk on Saturday November 21, at 11am at Bobbie P Gallery, 11 Alison Road, Wyong. Ph 0490 061 949 for more details.

We've moved! Come in and check out our wonderful new purpose built office at Zenith Business Centre, 5.2 / 6 Reliance Drive, Tuggerah Business Park. No more parking worries. Our biggest complaint at Wyong was the parking. The Zenith building has its own patrolled car park. Plenty of spaces for you all. No more stairs. Some of our less mobile clients struggled with the stairs at Wyong. Our new office is on ground level and opens directly onto the car park with wheelchair access. More secure. For the clients that come after hours. Scott Buchanan will be concentrating on his BOWEN treatments and Acupressure massage. Bowen therapy for physical injuries and pains, with a fully assessment based treatment plan. Correcting imbalances of the body relieving pain and bringing back homeostasis to the body.
Teena Wilkins will be concentrating on her Remedial Massage and Hot Stone treatments. Remedial Massage for reducing pain in inflamed and injured areas and increasing range of motion to that area, allowing the client increased mobility, less pain and increased quality of life. Hot stones for the ultimate relaxation experience. Teena has set up and prepared her room for you to let go of all your stresses. In this wonderful relaxing environment she uses hot stones to spoil your body and allow the heat to penetrate the muscles resulting in the perfect relaxation experience. We also offer our combination treatments combining the correctional power of Bowen and the massage finesse of Teena. 30 min Bowen from Scott followed by a full body 1 hour massage from Teena.
Acupressure for that holistic body treatment. Not just treating a symptom but assessing the body condition and treating with acupressure massage, dietary advice, mind set and exercise. Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest recorded healing modalities on the planet dating back 5000 years.

Celebrate the inaugural Wyong Lakes Festival Wyong Shire’s beautiful lakes area may be one of the Central Coast’s best kept secrets. Stretching nearly 80 square kilometres, the lakes contribute to the fantastic aquatic and outdoor lifestyle for both locals and visitors. The new nine day Wyong Lakes Festival is supported by Wyong Shire Council and will feature a program of over 30 events including sporting, family, cultural, educational and live music events on and surrounding the Tuggerah Lakes catchment area. Celebrations will be focussed around the five key event hubs of Memorial Park, The Entrance; McKenzie Reserve at Budgewoi and the foreshores of Canton Beach at Toukley, Colungra Bay at Lake Munmorah and Long Jetty. The opening weekend will feature a spectacular evening light show, free breakfast by the lake, junior fishing competition, stand-up paddleboarding competition, art exhibition, market stalls and much more. During the week there will be a range of education and community events culminating in the closing weekend with a new triathlon for the Central Coast, outdoor cinema, touch football competition, kayaking, live music and entertainment. All events will be free for spectators to enjoy, with opportunities for people to participate in some of the events. Full program details go to www.wyong.nsw.gov.au/wyonglakesfestival
Long Jetty Street Festival Discover the new ‘Newtown of the Central Coast’ and join in the first Long Jetty Street Festival on Sunday 22 November from midday. Featuring an array of vintage stores, local businesses and hip cafes, this little pocket of Wyong has had its own revival, and will celebrate the uniqueness of the area in true street festival style. Live music with pop-up bars featuring bespoke ciders and beers, food truck alley creating a culinary mecca and the art precinct will feature alongside dedicated kids’ zones, jumping castles and circus troops. The Strip will see the local shops extend their wares out on to the pavement together with market stalls and fresh produce. While you are here, pay homage to one of the most photographed jetties in Australia and see the mural installed to celebrate Long Jetty’s Centenary, featuring intriguing stories about this much loved icon. “Tis the Season to be Jolly” November and December brings on parades, Parties and of course everyone’s favourite Christmas. So scheduling and being prepared is very important. In these times of everything being at a fast pace . You can put it all into your phone, but personally for me the best way is on the wall in my kitchen so it’s in my face every morning, try alongside the kettle. In my shop we have some great notice boards that add a decorative flair, rather than the usual magnets on the fridge. So the first thing to add to your notice board will be note…"Fashion parade and Christmas shopping night at Deborah Buckley Artisan 7th of November, time from 3pm." We always have a lot of fun, frivolities and friendship at these events and get some stress free shopping done at the same time. If you haven’t visited the store for some time, come and see how we have grown. We have gifts for everyone, as well as our unique homewares and good old fashion service. The Carousel This historic icon has charmed and delighted young and old at The Entrance since 1930. It has seen a number of owners since its arrival in Australia from France in the early 1900s and is now part of the National Trust classified Haas Family carnival, a family that has 400 years of carnival ancestry. The carousel, which was built in the late 1800s in Germany, was originally ‘powered’ by a pony but was converted to steam at the turn of the century. It remained steam driven until the 1950s when an old chev. engine was installed, and was converted to electricity in the 1970s. Its reed pipe organ, operated by bellows, remained in commission until 1950. Music is now supplied by tape, although the organ front has been restored. The carousel has pride of place on The Entrance waterfront where it is visited by not only today’s children, but by the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of those children.
What to See & Do The Pelican Feeding in The Entrance Memorial Park is a highlight of any visit. Daily at 3.30pm The Entrance Heritage Walk is one of the best on the Central Coast and visitors will also enjoy the Coast to Lake Walk. The Peninsula Ettalong Beach, Umina Beach & Woy Woy
Pearl Beach from Mount Ettalong Lookout © Ken Duncan Photography
The Peninsula a truly special place For those who live on the Peninsula, we all appreciate how truly special the area is with its safe and beautiful beaches, picturesque waterways, accessible National Parks, vibrant town centres, good transport and easy access to Sydney. Woy Woy is one of the busiest rail stations in New South Wales as locals commute to Sydney for work each morning and return each night to the relaxed Peninsula lifestyle. It is no wonder that more people choose to live and visit the Peninsula as they discover its wonderful attributes. Few places can boast one of the best ferry rides in Australia from Ettalong Beach to Palm Beach via the Palm Beach Ferry or the spectacular train ride from Woy Woy to Sydney via the Hawkesbury River. Nor can you ignore the wonderful Ettalong Beach Foreshore, the Woy Woy Waterfront or the many spectacular lookouts and National Parks. Without doubt our beaches are the cleanest and

safest on the Central Coast boasting Ettalong Beach, Umina and Ocean Beach, Pearl Beach and Patonga. Importantly, our town centres have become more vibrant with the bustling Umina Beach one of the busiest retail strip shopping centres on the Central Coast. This is supported by major shopping facilities in Woy Woy including Deepwater Plaza and Peninsula Plaza and boutique shopping in Ettalong Beach. In recent years we have seen the emergence of a great café culture and a range of high quality restaurants especially in the Ettalong Beach village centre. With great schools, terrific services and a full range of shopping centres, the demographics of the Peninsula are changing with young families and professionals moving in to complement our older population. No longer just somewhere to retire (and why not), the Peninsula has become a place for younger people to raise families and enjoy a lifestyle that is the envy of Sydney. Come visit the Peninsula and discover the reasons why others have chosen to make this area their home and a holiday destination.

Marine Rescue Central Coast
Use Your Marine Radio It’s a Matter of Safety Most recreational boats are fitted with a marine radio. Maritime regulations require that vessels operating more than 2nm offshore be fitted with a marine radio. The most common are: 27 MHz - 4 to 5-watt output, range 8 – 10 nm by line of sight. This is common radio used by small recreational vessels. VHF (Very High Frequency) 25-watt output, range 20 -40 nm, a reliable radio used by vessels regularly offshore fishing, making coastal passages & offshore yacht racing. Marine Rescue provides courses for the effective use of 27MHz and VHF radios. Marine radios operate use a 12-volt battery, which should be fully charged for reliable results. Marine radios use little power on ‘listening’ watch but do use full power for a short period power when ‘transmitting’. Keep your radio on ‘listening watch’ at all times so that you hear any safety messages or any call for help from vessels in your vicinity. Various ‘channels’ are designated for use when contacting shore stations. On 27 MHz, the calling channel is 88 and the working channel is usually 90. On VHF, the calling channel is 16 and the working channel is 73. Marine Rescue volunteers maintain a listening watch on 88 and on 16 seven days a week.

Peninsula Theatre Woy Woy Woy Woy Little Theatre – the only non-musical community theatre group in the Gosford City Council confines – is emerging from both its busiest year and the most rewarding as audience response and numbers continue to rise. Next year looks like being more of the same for the group based at the Peninsula Theatre in Woy Woy as they’ve just announced their 2016 Subscription Season which comprises a comedy/drama first staged just 14 years ago, a popular Australian comedy set during WWII, a classic thriller by the author of Dial M for Murder and an amusing farce from Alan Ayckbourn. First cab off the rank is Charlotte Jones’s Humble Boy, an intriguing piece possibly best described as an English Country Hamlet, with many nods to Shakespeare, aerodynamics and apiculture. Second show is Dinkum Assorted, a comedy by Linda Aronson and possibly the only play in the world written for a cast of fifteen women and a nanny goat! Set in an Australian country town biscuit factory during World War II the play shows how the all-female cast run a ‘Mum’s Army’ Civil Defence Unit and put on a show for the war effort. Frederick Knott’s second hit thriller Wait Until Dark is
scheduled for August 2016 while Alan Ayckbourn’s Christmas farce Absurd Person Singular should send audiences home chuckling in time for the festive season. Subscription Season brochures are currently available at both the Peninsula and Laycock Street Community Theatres, as well as Libraries and Community Centres at Woy Woy, Umina Beach, Ettalong, Kincumber, Green Point, Erina, Gosford, Wyoming and Kariong. Swoon to the world’s most beautiful songs
George Golla at Central Coast Conservatorium
Central Coast Chorale presents an afternoon of beautiful songs at St Patrick's Church, East Gosford at 2.30pm Sunday 29 November. Music director, Christopher Bowen OAM says of the program, “We’ve selected sacred and popular songs that will provide our audience with ‘little parcels of rapture’.” The first part of the program features sacred music including JS Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Howard Goodall’s Psalm 23 and John Rutter’s Clare Benediction. The second half of the program includes arrangements of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Love Changes Everything, Eleanor Rigby by Paul McCartney and John Lennon and Eric Clapton’s Tears in Heaven. Bowen contributes two works, Two Trees and a setting of Thy Perfect Love. Shayne Leslie, Wyoming has written an arrangement of Nick Cave’s Into My Arms. TICKETS: $30 general, $25 concession and $10 children. Available via credit card online at www.centralcoastchorale.org or cash at the door. Call 1300 76 22 38.
Friday 6th November at 7.30pm Golla, who turned 80 on May 10th, has collaborated on a new duo album with Sydney songbird, Jacki Cooper. They are planning a series of concert tours around NSW, QLD, SA, VIC and Tasmania. The album, called “Tea for Two” is a collection of George and Jacki’s favourite songs. “George knows a million songs, so it’s tricky to find songs he doesn’t know. And why would you? The songs from the Great American Songbook are so beautifully crafted. The most difficult part was narrowing down our favourite songs to go on the recording” Cooper says. Golla agrees. “So many of the songs have been recorded hundreds of times, so we decided to look up the verses, many of them long forgotten. Now the trick is to remember which verses go with which songs!” To celebrate George’s 80th birthday, he and Jacki are performing at Central Coast Conservatorium on Fri 6th Nov at 7.30pm. Loving Local is a small ethical food store supplying healthy, organic, vegan and gluten free options, we love to support local and Australian food producers.
Seacoast Fishing During the following months, our commercial fishing business will start to increase in catch quantities as our weather warms up and the water temperature. Snapper catches have been excellent during the colder months, and will continue throughout the warmer months. Lobsters will start to move and our boys are getting ready to place traps out in their path. We will start to seelobsters around the end of November. Our fishing business has increased its fleet, with our new addition “Suemic” which is a small fishing boat for the boys to use for fish only catches. Our larger boat “Spinaway 11” is used in conjunction with lobster and fish catching. Our catches consist of snapper, ocean jackets, bream, trevally and lobsters, most of our catch is sent to the fish markets and all our catch from thur and Friday is kept for our shop, which is open Thurs & Fri from 11 6pm and Sat from 9 - 6pm. The Italian Restaurant Review Our party of five chose a scorching hot day in the middle of a heat wave, to visit Azzuro Blu Wharf at The Entrance. We were immediately refreshed by a Valley of the Giants Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2016, along with the amazing view of the Sea. The meal was outstanding! We had a great choice of seafood starters ranging from fresh oysters that tasted heavenly, stuffed squid with chorizo, chilli and breadcrumbs which was so tender and delicious, lightly battered calamari that melted in the mouth and also a wonderful fresh tomato bruschetta.
Main courses ranged from Scampi alla Grillia – beautifully grilled prawns - that were tasty and fleshy on a bed of rocket and parmesan salad, a traditional pasta Marinara which was subtly herbed with continental parsley, a whole champagne lobster Mornay that had a gorgeous cheese sauce, chicken Ripieni - tender chicken breast fillet that was filled with chorizo, ricotta and sundried tomatoes and had a tasty creamy masala, bacon and mushroom sauce. A lot of these great choices on the menu were suitable for
our gluten intolerant guests. We noticed other patrons Food enjoying a meat worth and seafood grill travelling for! that we wished we had ordered, (good reason to visit The Italian Restaurant again) as the quality of food is truly amazing all round. Desserts were fantastic, everyone loves gelato and we tried mango and passion fruit which were presented in beautiful cocktail glasses and which were consumed with relish. There was a delicious baci (Italian kiss) filled with a tasty hazelnut chocolate ice cream and a cannoli filled with a superb ricotta custard. Coffees were hot and of good quality served by Kaitlin, our attentive waitress. Congratulations to Kelly the manager for the way the establishment is run, as the food and service were excellent! We can’t wait to eat there again. Emilia Risi

At Alcofree they believe in offering drinkers and nondrinkers a choice – a choice of a growing range of non-alcoholic and alcohol free beverages to suit every occasion and almost every palate. Their range of nonalcoholic beers, wines, ciders, cocktails and more is the best you will find.
Almost all of our social occasions include drinks of some kind, and at the end of a long day’s work it’s hard to beat the relaxing feeling of a lazy refreshing drink. And who doesn’t enjoy a long cool drink with their meal or when vegging-out in front of the entertainment box? The range of drinks available to us is huge, both at the supermarket and the bottleshop. Huge that is if you drink alcohol or are happy with sugary water-based drinks. But if you don’t drink alcohol, or are cutting down, and want

Restaurant Review
Tapestry Bar at Magenta Shores One of Accor’s 5-star hotel’s Magenta Shores, houses a great bar with a brand new menu. The Tapestry Bar’s Justin North and executive Chef Paul Clune creatively weave together local and regional produce in a celebration of the diverse ingredients throughout the Central Coast and Australia. The retro style interior is appealing with its vibrant colours, tasteful cushions on comfortable chairs. It has modern light fittings, trendy bar stools, bright tables with an inviting, well stocked bar. Bar tender Dan made us a few amazing cocktails, which set our happy mood. We had a Midori Splice, strawberry Daiquiri and a Pina Colada, (the highlight was definitely the Toblerone cocktail that was made with layers of Baileys, Franjelico, Tia Maria and chocolate that we had for desert and was absolutely delicious.) There is a grand selection of wines and beers for those who prefer to marry their beverages to the food, in a way that bring out the flavours in both. Chef Byron Namenyi served us the freshest oysters served with apple gel, celery and lemon served from the Executive Chef Paul Clune’s new menu. The salt and pepper Hawksbury squid was tender and was served with nam jim aioli, and a chilli, spring onion and coriander salad. We also tasted the Black forest ham, soft poached egg, asparagus tips and puree, which was not only subtly flavoured, but one of the many gluten free items on the menu. Food intolerances can be catered for individually, but there was only one item on the menu that was made with gluten.
We tried the crispy fried free-range chicken served with a fermented red chilli emulsion, pickles and fennel salt that had just the right hot bite and was filling. The little creek labna flatbread with caramelised onion, rocket and vino cotto was tasty, but the fleshy half shell Queensland deep sea prawns with miso burnt garlic butter was exquisite. The Espresso Martini Zokoko Food chocolate worth mousseline dessert travelling for! went down so well to end our meal, which we had with good coffee and almond and fig biscuits. Tapestry bar is highly recommended and worth the treat! Emilia Krumm

Free Windows 10 Upgrade, Should I or Should I Not?
Richard Krupka Owner PC Wrangler
As most of us know, Windows 10 is here! And a major part of Microsoft’s rollout plan for the new Operating System is to offer it free to Windows 7 and Windows 8 Users (for a year). In order to access this free upgrade, a White Windows logo appears in the System Tray on qualified systems that guides you through the process.
But should you take up the offer? Well that’s a slightly more complicated question. Quickly, in my opinion Windows 10 is a great Operating System, not just for the new capabilities but for the new Eco-System Microsoft is building to standardise their Systems onto a single platform across multiple devices; the benefits of which won’t be seen for a little bit longer, but trust me, it’s very exciting!

But is it for everyone? No. Are there things to consider before upgrading to Windows 10? Absolutely. So let’s get into it. The main problem we are seeing with people upgrading to Windows 10 is compatibility. The upgrade tool does check the computers suitability before upgrading, but it only checks the hardware, it does not check all Peripheral Devices and Software, causing major issues for our clients. Some of the issues include: 1. Incompatible Printers 2. Incompatible Cameras 3. Incompatible Software And some clients are being left out in the cold. This is not Microsoft’s fault, (however they do get the blame for it) and it puts a bad taste in peoples mouth when they find their beloved (or essential) Peripheral Device or Software no longer works. So before you decide to take the leap, check with any relevant Manufacturers and Forums to ensure that there are not any known issues with your devices or software beforehand. And finally, if your still unsure, ask your local IT Provider! For all your computer requirements contact Richard www.pcwrangler.com.au P: 02 4390 4352 M: 0497 090 191 Email: admin@pcwrangler.com.au
