Mandalong Gallery is owned and operated by David and Sheila Kearns, and specialises exclusively in Australian Indigenous art. They have been involved in Australian made Aboriginal Art for 19 years and have personal contact with many of their Aboriginal artists. After many years of dealing in Aboriginal Art, Mandalong Gallery moved to a larger property out at andalong. It was here that the current gallery was built. and. It was officially opened in 2000 by John Kilpatrick Lord Mayor of Lake Macquarie. A smoking ceremony, Aboriginal dancing, and Didgeridoo playing completed the official opening. They have travelled extensively in their search of both established and emerging artists. Mandalong Gallery endeavours to purchase directly from the artist whenever possible. All paintings come with a Certificate of Authenticity. If you are looking for a particular artist or style of work not currently featured on the website, please contact Sheila or David and they will email any images and details they have available from their extensive range of works in stock. Coffee Shops in the Hunter
Life is sweet in Raymond Terrace
It’s always good when a new chocolate and confectionery shop opens, but when it happens in your hometown it’s all the more sweet! King Street Confectionery opened in Raymond Terrace earlier this year and we finally got there last month (how remiss of us) and realised we should have tried it much, much sooner. A mistake we shall remedy repeatedly in the coming months and years. Stepping through the door is like stepping back to a time we all remember as kids – when sweetshops were mystical places of wonder and delicious delicacies beyond our imagination. The wide glass cabinets are filled with exquisite chocolates, fudges, and brightly coloured lollies. Real glass jars on the shelves behind the counters bursting with old time favourites that are full of the sweet promise of good times to come. Then, as your eyes are drinking in the view, the smell of freshly ground coffee hits you and you stand for a moment in complete chocolate/ coffee heaven. The most difficult thing is choosing what sweet delight to have with your coffee! We love it at King Street Confectionery – we have enjoyed trying it out on behalf of iMag readers. A definite thumbs up. Welcome to a taste of the good life by the river at Raymond Terrace. 15 King Street, Raymond Terrace Ph 02 4987 5113 Find them on Facebook!

Newcastle Memorial Walk Newcastle Memorial Walk was constructed to commemorate the centenary of ANZAC and was completed in April 2015. With its striking 360 degree views of the city and coast, this walk provides a spectacular connection to Newcastle's Bathers Way. The original concept for the project was a one-way walk along the cliff top with visitors having to turn around at the viewing platform and return the way they came via Strzelecki lookout. However, the addition of the stairway to connect the walk to the Bathers Way is a fantastic addition with a 430m boardwalk. The Bathers Way, the six kilometre stretch of coast from Nobbys Beach in the north to Merewether Beach in the south, is being progressively
transformed as part of Newcastle City Council's coastal revitalisation program. We have also completely overhauled the shared pathways at Stockton, connecting the area to the 1400km NSW Coastline Cycleway. Less than five years ago the Merewether to Dixon Park stretch of the project was an unassuming area with a one metre wide foot path. Now the area is a bustling place for exercise, relaxation and everything in between. The Nobbys to Newcastle stretch is well progressed and visitors will be able to enjoy the new facilities in summer 2015/2016. More than two million people visit our beaches every year and with improvements all along our coast, we expect the city's newest experience, Newcastle Memorial Walk, will be a very popular drawcard for locals and visitors for years to come.

JULY/AUGUST PRODUCTIONS
Gaslight - a Victorian thriller October 17 - 31, 2015 by Patrick Hamilton NTC are delighted to present, Gaslight, a classic period thriller written by tragic English playwright and novelist, Patrick Hamilton. Gas Light, as it was originally titled, was Patrick’s second play and set him upon the path to fame and fortune. Gaslight draws you into the world of Jack Manningham and his wife Bella – living in fogbound London, during the latter part of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1880. As we enter their drawing room it is late afternoon, the time “before the feeble dawn of gaslight and tea”. From the start Bella is tense and on edge. Why does she keep losing things, keys, letters, bills? Is she imagining the soft footsteps above, and that the gaslight dims unexplainable at night, did she really move that painting without remembering? Or is she really slowly going mad, like her mother before her? Gaslight is an absorbing, entertaining production. NTC invites you to join us for a chilling irresistible psychological drama that promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. Gaslight will play at Newcastle Theatre Company, 90 De Vitre Street Lambton, from Saturday 17 October and will run through to 31 October. Evening performances are on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8.00pm. Matinees are on Sunday 18 and Saturday 24 October at 2.00pm. Newcastle Theatre Company: 90 De Vitre Street Lambton. Kurri Kurri and Cessnock to Wollombi "Cessnock Vineyard" courtesy of Cessnock City Council and the Hunter Valley Visitor Centre
A rich wine growing area During the 1860’s, land settlement was extensive between Nulkaba and Pokolbin with wheat, tobacco and grape growing, the main crops. Coal mining was the principal industrial base of the Cessnock area for over fifty years. The Hunter Valley wine-growing area in Cessnock City is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions and one of the most famous with around 4,500 acres under vine. The vineyards of Pokolbin, Mount View and Allandale, with their rich volcanic soils tended by entrepreneurial vignerons, are also the focus of a thriving and growing tourism industry. The town has a number of fine restaurants, guesthouses and galleries. The Convict Trail is a conservation project that is restoring the convict-built Great North Road. This is one of Australia's national historic treasures. 24

Kurri Kurri is famous for its Murals, they are a wonderful expression of our history and region, and tours are available all year round, we have many coach groups coming into town to view these amazing outdoor artworks and are proud to be the biggest Mural town in Australia. There are now over 50 murals, making Kurri Kurri the largest mural town in Australia. New murals are currently underway. Don't forget to look for the kookaburra in every mural, some are quite difficult to find. To book a tour, enquire about projects contact the Kurri Kurri VIC 4936 1909.
