A popular belief that goes with the lake is that there was a Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret who developed so much attachment with the lake that in his will, he stated that his ashes are to be immersed in the lake after his death. And, following his will, his wish was fulfilled. The Sukhna Lake is about 3 km long, and also finds fame as being the host for activities like boating, yachting, water skiing, and kayaking etc. The place also has a small beautiful garden that is called as “The Garden of Silence�. A fact about the lake that one would like to know, the lake area also plays host to several festivities. Of these, the Mango Festival is the most popular. During the festival which is celebrated in the monsoon season, the place gets adorned by numerous types of mangoes. Locals flock in the counts of thousands to understand and rather primarily to taste the various flavors of mangoes. Just a few kilometers from the lake exists the Rock Garden Chandigarh, which is yet another most popular attraction of Chandigarh.
